Ermmm I don't think you should polish after you wax. That's backwards isn't it? You'd be defeating the purpose of the wax.

Well I use a "cleaner" wax thats part of a 3 step process, the bottle actually says "Step 1" on it....I could be wrong, I dunno. I just started getting into detailing...

...the Meguairs 3 step Deep Crystal system consists of a cleaner (#1), a polish (#2) and a wax (#3). ....for use in that order.

ah, I see. Don't overdo it, and the clay will remain above the clear coat surface, and just grind the grit down.

Thanks for the link.

.....lubrication and light pressure is the key. This will keep the clay gliding over the surface of your finish as it does its "thing".

I tried the mothers clay bar..it worked great...I used it on my 99 rs and it made it look like it rolled off the show room floor...the downside is sore arm the next day and any imperfection on the car will show up and stick out like a sore thumb...I had a black square bondo spot on my right front fender and it could be seen way off after i used the bar...but after the bar you polish and wax the car and dust and dirt cant stick to it for at least 2 weeks...if some settels on the car a micro fiber towel wipedown will have it looking freshly washed and waxed again

crazy ignorance in this thread, wow.

claybars dont replace polishes. Anyone that claims, "wow I clayed my car and it looks amazing" is adding to fictional buzz. It is however part of a regiment to get your car to that "wow" look, IF NEEDED.
