Default need a little help, wrx caliper compatiblity

Just wondering if anyone knows if the red wrx calipers will be able to fit the stock mounts on the baja(2006), or if there is a mount adapter kit or something. I sort of remember there being a thread about this a while ago, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I assume you mean the 4 pots? Yes they will bolt right up to the hub carrier (knuckle). They even match your OEM Baja rotors. However stock wheels will not clear them.

yeah the red 4 pots used before the new model of the wrx came out. Wheel wise am I looking at 16" with a different offset or 17" with the 48 offset.
I was thinking OZ superturismos.

Some 16x7 wheels will fit (OEM are 16x6.5) for example, the wheels from a 98-2001 Impreza 2.5RS will clear them fine. My 17x7 BBS won't clear them as the spokes interfere. There is a thread around these forums what clears the brakes. just gotta find the right size and offset and you wont have a problem. Some people have used spacers without problem....but you won't find me doing that....

The 2 piston rears will fit if you use an adapter bracket (kartboy makes one) or swap out the backing plates in the rear for those designed for the 2 pot rear brakes. The Baja comes from the factory with the "H6" rear brakes which is what a lot of 02-05 WRX guys upgrade to. Not only will you gain the 2 piston calipers, but also vented rotors in rear instead of solid.

There should be no wheel fitment issues with these in the rear and OEM baja wheels.

The 4 pots do not fit in the rear

If you want to go on the cheap, go to the autoparts store and get some rebuilt 300zx tt rears, They will say nissan, but essentially the same thing.

sorry one last question I swear. I've been looking through more and more thread on this and some people say that those 2 pots will work with stock rotors and some say that you need wrx rotors instead. I know I need the kartboy adapters for the rear but I also don't want to get rid of the dust shield.

the backing plates are the dust shields. You either have to remove the old backing plate, and replace it with the new one for the 2 pots, or use those adapters so that they will mount to the existing backing plates/dust shields.

The H6/Baja rear rotors are the same diameter as the 2 pot rear rotor, but the 2 pot rotor is thicker (something like 18mm vs the baja 10mm) since the wrx rotor is vented and the baja is solid. So I am pretty sure you have to swap rotors too.

For the rear, i think its pretty similar, except you need one of those special conversion rotors, I don't have the part number but you can look it up. Basically its an STi like brembo rear rotor that has the smaller R160 parking brake drum as opposed to the R180 one EDIT: like this one http://www.fastwrx.com/dbastiadro.html

You will have to look into it, I have never done that swap myself

Edit: I think the Brembo fronts should bolt right up, you just have to get them for a 2004 STi since the bolt pattern changed after that

4-pots work great, and will fit most 17x7.5 wheels (Rota Battles Pictured), 16x7 2.5RS 5-spoke wheels are my winter set, they were engineered to clear these brakes on the V5 STi.

See pic below. It's huge, so I didn't want to post directly.

Erm...my 4-pots might be going up for sale soon, another upgrade might be in the works. I'm starting to get paranoid about my car breaking...might stop racing.

I now have 2 sets of wheels that will clear brembos, etc...so I might pick up a used front set or buy some racingbrake stuff from a local subaru dealer...that is a licensed racingbrake vendor. EDIT: don't make the mistake of thinking the baja will be a show car. Just more of a fun DD for a while. I do take the baja to small local shows for laughs, park it's ugly, beat ass next to some nice hardware.

Plus, auto-x was something I did with the GF, who is working and going to school and no longer has the time. The r-comps i bought are the slower-warming track compound, which essentially requires a 2-driver car to keep heat in them.

I'm considering 'renting out' my 17's with r-comps to one member of the huge crowd of subies that come to our local events. I'm figuring 30 bucks for the day (the tires cost me 50 total) and 5-10 bucks to rent my helmet.

I dunno. I would hate to make the last payment (13,400 left on the car) and have something major break. Moderators, if this is 'ugly' here, feel free to spin it off into it's own thread.

I've seen a few bad things from Racing Brake. A local guy here was running their pads and rotors on his Forester and they failed on him two separate times. The first time he was at the drag strip and his rotors literally cracked in half and the top hats broke off. The second time was at a track day where the pads separated from the backing plate and caused him to go off track and slam into a berm which resulted in a fire. When he contacted them about it, they said "too bad, your fault" and left him high and dry. I'll scrounge up the pics once I'm not posting from my phone.

OMFG that looks absolutely terrible! Those rotors/pads! Used brembos now top of list. Maybe I could get stoptechs from my buddy's project car instead....I can't believe how borked those are.

Wow... Ive run racing brake rotors on my Impreza and Baja. I have not had any problems and actually kinda like them. This definitely concerns me. Thanks for posting that.

WOOO HOOO! Baja will put you through the WINDSHIELD now! It took longer than I would have liked but everything is on now. The Kartboy brackets were ALMOST a perfect fit. Just a tiny tiny bit of grinding in the middle and everything lined up beautifully. The Wilwoods were a BREEZE! I'll get pics up soon!
