First race gas pass....

This is coasting through the traps after hitting the rev limit in 4th and double clutching down the track.

Why in the world would you be double clutching upshifts on the drag strip?

Nice time BTW

It was the first pass on race gas. I did the same thing on pump gas at first too. Just kinda feeling the car out and easing into it. There's a dogbox in the car too. I'm used to double clutching when driving it.

Why do people always say that. Yes it is OK in the twisties but last time I checked the only cars that where made for the race track were called race cars. What Subaru makes is a fine motor vehicle that will go wherever I take it be it the strip, road course, or dirt just like any other passenger car, some are just better suited to different things.

You just answered your own question. Subbie is destroyed by the EVO (and pretty much every other AWD sports car there is) in the 1/4 because its not made/designed very well for it. The tables turn when you put turns into the equation. It's just becomes a lot more than just about power.

Yeah, my point was Subaru, Mitsu, some old Mustang engineer didn't sit down at the drawing board and deliberately engineer these passenger cars to be awesome at drag racing.

Every car has its strengths and weaknesses and all can't be the fastest down the quarter mile or around the road coarse. Does that mean we shouldn't ever take out Subies to the drag strip because they aren't the fastest? No! Like I said, unless it is a purpose built drag car then it wasn't designed for the strip, is that going to stop you from going? Is that going to be you excuse when you loose to a boosted Hyundai Accent? Probably.

Can't blanket statement that, it depends-

It's nice to have a street car, in street trim (not slicks) that can drive to the track, hook hard, run good times and drive home. My buddies are swapping tires, filling their bottles, un-capping their headers etc. On the street they would get stomped. Not that street racing is even remotely a good idea, but the fact that their street cars in street trim are not capable of launching or running their potential time means something to me. When your running 10's,11's,12's AWD is great......

Now if we are talking about 7-8 second trailer cars, well never mind then.

BTW, NICE TIME JAY! thats screaming!

Im not saying that evos or sti are bad at all for drag racing. Just that a rwd car with the same power will do better.
