FYI: I am merely passing this information on. I used these steps as a guideline and managed to get it working with the help of everyone on these forums.

So I am having some problems with my camera and can't get it to upload pics right now so I will use pics from the other LGT.com thread that was mentioned earlier.

This is what my original key looked like taken apart. (One phillips head screw)

This is a link to the ebay auction that I purcahsed the shell from:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...%3D%26_fvi%3D1

In case that doesn't work, it was Item #180316290989

The upper left corner of front of the shell is where the key's immobilizer thing fits into.

I am hotlinking the rest firepyro515 from legacygt.com

This is it opened

I had to use a dremel and sand down part of the remote, the 3 blue hexagons
http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...82d327cb6f.jpg

I also sanded a little bit on the green line, the panic button was pushing up against the casing
http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...6a6b8263d7.jpg

I also needed to sand part of the actual internal casing because it was just a little bit too wide (along the red lines)

My biggest dilemma is the actual key, the blank is pinned into the revolving part and i don't have a punch. Hopefully i can find some way to do it. If you guys have any suggestions, let me know!
^ I used a dental pick that i found in the garage to get the pin it, it moves with very lil force.

It's amazing that the button layout is virtually the same on the honda and subaru key.

I don't think there's anything out there for the 08 Impreza...it's a funky shaped fob and also the chip is embeded in the rubberized plastic of the key. Also the whole laser cut key deal.

I had a switchblade key for my Focus when I still had it. It came from a jaguar so the buttons were on the same frequency as are most fords so I just reporgrammed the fob for my car and I used the barrel key that jaguar uses for my european gas cap and hoodlock. I didn't get around to getting the ignition barrel lock.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say here... There is no H on the back, there is a spot where the emblem is supposed to go, but no honda emblem came with it.

As for other year FOB's, I know some of the more enginneering inclinded have actually taken the keyless part apart and rewired them into the new FOB.

As for the 08 transmitter, this mod is done for my 2008 Legacy Spec B, my original key had an immobiliser in it, but you can take that out and place it in the new key. It's been about a week and now and have had ZERO problems with it, besides some aesthtic stuff, like too much superglue around the base of the key.

My legacy key had the chip in it as well, you just have to pry it out

I'm going to move my 08 impreza key to at least the new legacy key/remote style, and might try the switchblade too.

At the very least one of our keys will need cut open to remove the immobilizer, then cut and dremeled to fit the switchblade or legacy case. I hate how bulky the 08 impreza remote/key is. I think my 97 outback setup was smaller

my question is, which shell/case are you going to use? and where is the imobilizer chip on our 08 keys? i want to try this too but i dont want to cut blindly into the key and kill the chip by accident
