Angry Loud Exhaust Ticket in CA

Well I was cited awhile ago by a LEO for having a loud exhaust (Stock except SRS CBE). I was told to put the silencer on it. Luckily I got it signed off even though it was a hell of a battle with another LEO saying "Oh it's still too loud." He finally gave in since it isn't even close to being loud, almost sounds stock for ****s sake! NOW my question...

If I take off my silencer and got pulled over again, would my older ticket be in the database? Would they give me a harsher ticket seeing that or would it be another correctable ticket same story? Basically what's the realistic worst case scenerio...? State Referee trip?

I don't want that damn silencer on, but if I can't work the system, screw it I'll go back to stock and sell the CBE if they are just going to harrass me. So much for eventually going stage 2 on my daily driver here in CA

here in utah, they tend to just keep giving you fix it tickets
i've been given 3 exhaust tickets, all which cost me nothing
i just put the silencer in, go get it signed off, and take it out

Crap, they did sign off the back of the ticket and I payed the $25 correctable fee and turned it in to the court... now I have nothing... which is what I guess was wondering if it shows in there database and if they will reticket me or leave me alone.

Nice. So you havn't had experience with them saying "this is time number 4, we are sending you to the state referee for so many tickets on the same thing?"

Well, you could just take your chances...

But if you're really concerned just trade your exhaust for a quieter one. I'm sure someone in your area would be willing to trade exhausts...seems like it happens all the time.

damn, i was lucky when i had my 08 with a tsudo catback, i never got pulled over. i just picked up a used 07 wrx sedan and it was an apexi world sport (just axle back portion) on it and it is very subtle, but still produces the rumble.

i was thinking of buying the SRS but am not too sure yet, especially if i end up getting a DP in the future. im thinking of having my friend fab me a 3" midpipe though, that might give me a little more sound.

to the OP, id hate to be in your shoes right now, im not sure what i'd do.

Kalifornia has laws that when you tell the rest of the country what the law is, we just laugh and say "you made that up". So off to BAIC with this thread.......

Here in LA, we have to pass a visual as well as a decibel requirment. Any shinny muffler or intake and they won't sing the ticket off. So most of us have to take everything off and then get inspected and throw it back on if we want.

Yeah I figured that would be worst case scenario. So what would happen if you already went through that whole process and you got pulled over again. Just another swap and get it signed off again as many times as you want?

Yea pretty much. Swap it and do it all over again. Worst case scenerio is getting sent to the ref but for what, modified exhaust. Unless you had a whole motor swap then id really be nervous about the fuzz......

Unless it is the same cop pulling you over and over again. Most cops always issue the correctable version of the ticket. My buddy is the only one I've heard of getting a none correctable exhaust ticket.

Them pigs are hipocrates. I had a piglet ask me to peel out in front of him. Got no respect for them. Sadly, its true. Anyway go loud go as loud as you want. Mess with the govt you help fund with your tax money. Its your right!!!! You don't have to be scared or nervous about it. Just do it.

Yeah, **** the govt and their long ass sticky greedy fingers reaching all up in my business trying to control everything in my life down to what exhaust I can and can't have. Still I think I will look into a quieter set-up when I try to go stage 2. Which reminds me, I saw an ad a few months ago with someone who wanted a louder exhaust and was willing to trade straight for his borla hush... wishing now I didn't pass that up. Thanks for all the responses.

Yeah, **** out of luck though when a cop is right behind/next to you on a red light. That is the worst trying to keep below 2000 RPM all while accelerating at glacier pace. Then the whole time he is following you all that is running through your head is "leave me alone, leave me alone, leave me alone..." So relieving when they turn off on another street.
