Baja down

Some of you may have noticed my disappearance around mid-march. Well, I had a run-in with a tree. I crested a hill on a narrow debris-strewn road and the rear of the baja broke loose on me, I counter steered but within half a second I had collided with a tree. The Baja, Turbo prodction number 4, was a total loss. I had a small bruise on my shins from my feet sliding off the pedals and hitting the driver's side kick panel. The car did it's job and sacrificed herself to save me. The schroth street legal harnesses also worked well, preventing my head from hitting the jesus handle. The hat i was wearing flew off my head, out the window, and 15 feet down the road.

Cause: driving too fast for conditions only a few mph above posted limit but the crappyness of the road should've clued me in.
Car: Total Loss
Driver: Unharmed, no passengers.

No, i didn't take anything from the car, but I have 2 whiteline sways for baja turbo, all other 'stockpiled' parts are gone.

That HURTS!! Your Baja was the twin to mine. Sorry it ended up like this.

You walked away and thats a good thing! It's nice to know/see that a Subaru is a safe car......when you need it most!

Where about's did you have your accident? I am trying to place where it happened. Was it in Waterford, or someplace local? I am trying to figure out what road you were on.

Haha, unrelated but I live right near the key bank on Rt 32/broad st.

The accident actually happened around Saugerties, NY. I was following a few friends to a diner after we stopped somewhere for pictures.

Thanks for the concern guys, twheats1, I hope your half of the 'twins' lives a lot longer than mine.

Geico was awesome, they gave me more than i had left in payments( 13k left, they gave me 15k). Service was great, I'm already in the new car....well, cars.

Thanks again guys, Just sold the sways, so my baja/subaru parts bin is now empty for the first time in 4 years. Just the Hoosiers left but they're going on the lexus before the next Solo event.
