Post Air Filters

Just bought a Legacy Sedan and want to get the best performance. I was able to get some useful information out of the synthetic oil post.

Any comments suggestions on air filters? I know K&N makes some decent filters, and I haven't seen if they make one for the soob... but guessing that they do. Has anyone had any experience with air filters other than Fram, etc?

K&N should have a filter for your Sube. You may have to look online (like at performance.com) to find one. Or go on K&Ns web site to find the number. There should be one out there.

For best performance, you should look into an intake that completely replaces your air box, like Cobb's intake.

Hope this helps.

man, not another air filter thread.....here, this is what it usually leads too

my opinion....don't expect any siginificant gains out of it, just use it cuz it's economical and convinient(sp?) in that you only have to clean it and not have to buy new filters...

Thanks for the link. I wasn't anticipating any performance gain.... but if it saves me from having to replace the filter $$.

I had heard that some vehicles actually operate worse after installing the K&N filter. (not really a reliable source) That was one of the main reasons for this post to see if I'm better off getting the crappy paper filters or not.

I just put a K & N filter on the WRX. I didn't really expect much of a performance gain, I did it in the interest of long-term economomy and eco-friendliness (not to mention I have a bunch of unused K & N cleaning kits).

I did notice the turbo seem to spool quicker with the K&N, most noticeable from a standing start. My wife asked me what I did to the car to make it "peppier" and she rarely notices anything about the car this side of a flat tire or cracked windshield.
