Default Tactrix

I just bought a 2004 STI and I downloaded rom raider but I am having trouble finding any one who has a tactrix open port 2.0 that is not out of stock. Are these hard to comeby? I would like to buy one but I don't want to pay the prices that they have on ebay. Am I just gonna have to eat it and buy one?

Hey guys, I just came from the VW world where this type of thing is totally taboo for some reason.
Once I got my 03 WRX about a month ago, I knew I had to have this! Well, I got my cable and everything yesterday, reformatted my laptop, and got it all setup last night and went for a little drive. It is all working perfectly!

I don't think I am going to get into tuning my own car for a while, but I will be datalogging and possibly playing with it a little.

My question is this, with the VW, there was programming available for totally stock cars that would net huge gains in performance. I haven't seen anything like this for the Subaru, however, I have heard that the stock programming is not perfect. Is there any benefit of getting an upgraded map for a car with just a 3" cat back?
I would like to optimize the car for now until I can get all the parts required for a stage 2 upgrade in a couple of months.
I would also like to add launch control to the car asap, so if there is a better stock map available, it would be a good time to add both of these to my car right now.
Before I would do anything, I'd like to do some logs and post them up to make sure everything looks ok with my car. Which parameters would I need to log in order to do this?

Thanks RomRaider and all the experts here that freely release all their hard earned info for free. I will be donating to the cause shortly!

Thanks for your write up Tea Cups. Was having problems with reading the stock ECU. The "read" button would not enable for some reason. Read like hell on here and OpenECU, and finally decided to reset the ECU completely, and a simple problem solved. All of this information has been useful and very simple to understand.

OK i have an OLD version of ROM RAIDER on my pc, when i got my car tuned i got a couple maps and now i have tried to put them in the computer and it says i need to update new definitions or something, but when i try to it won't let me. SO should i keep trying though it is not working. or should i delete the program all together and load the latest version and then my maps, they are safely on a memory stick.
HELP!!!

I can't seem to get the EcuFlash software for Mac OSX 10.4+ to recognize my 2003 WRX ecu. I can installed the software fine, but when I hook up the tactrix cable to the laptop and the OBD port, all the options to read/flash ecu are still grayed out. I have the installed the latest ecu definitions for ecuflash, green connectors plugged and my jumper block in.

Can anyone help me read and flash with my mac?

Anyone having problems getting their AEM UEGO wideband to work using Windows 7? It used to work okay when I was using Vista.

With 7 all I get is a -1 reading and only 2 com ports to choose from (com3, 4). I have the latest defs and such.

Coming from a megasquirt/megatune background, how well does this work for the car? I need something to play with my 02 WRX ecu thats merged into a 99 RS, as long as my OBD2 stuff is all done correctly, it should work as normal right? And one more thing, is RomRaider capable of turning off things the ECU looks at like TGVs?

Was anyone else having issues using windows 7? With any aspect of OS tuning? I have an AEM wideband as well and plan to use a Keyspan Serial->USB adapter
