the boost really dies up top. you guys couldn't make it hold a little longer? you would think it would atleast hold 16psi by redline. i know vf series are not known to hold power up top, but still. great power though. for 18.5psi

Thank You, guys. The car feels incredible, night and day from the TD04. Let's hope I'm not back up there too soon for tranny work.

stock clutch. the PSI is 18 tapering down to 16.5. i think Jorge said i was at 94% IDC.

some side notes... jorge said my CSS TMIC is junk! on his first pull he got ~293hp when the intercooler was cold. then once the car warmed up after a few more pulls the TMIC wouldnt dissipate the heat.

Nice numbers, My bud had has forester tuned there a month ago. 293/323 at 18psi. I think Jorge and the VF48's love 18psi.

Those are 2.5L numbers! Is their dyno high reading, or do you have a freak 2.0L?

e-85 and its only running 18psi right now. and no it does not read high. it is just a dynojet. stock sti's put down 250-260 on this dyno.

i think the key ingrediant to getting those numbers with that setup is the EWG, external waste gate.
Very nice numbers!

Actually I think the key is E85. I think an EWG is overkill on a VF48 2.0L..... Not needed other than for the cool jet engine sounds!

Very nice numbers!
it is a combination of the e-85 with the ewg for sure.

internal wastegates's suck! and an ewg can never be an overkill on any setup.

One week away from throwing a VF48 on my EJ205. Here's my build:

EJ205
VF48
STi TMIC
Gimmick Turbo Inlet
06 WRX Injectors
Walbro 255
GMBCS
STi UP
Catless DP

Hope to put down some good numbers in my Saab.

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to turbos and therefore don't want anything too aggressive. I'm leaning towards installing a VF48 in my 2005 Baja turbo. The Baja already seems to have STi injectors and fuel pump (many people have posted that it uses an STi long block!?!?). I have also got a perrin catted downpipe (not installed yet), an xcceleration 3" cat back and STi tmic. The baja runs a 5mt.....I'm curious as to how hard this set up will be on the tranny? My intention is to keep the Baja for a while so I won't be beating on it. I just want to have a little bit of a sleeper (midlife crisis I guess).

I'm sure a lot of this will depend on the tuner...........how do you tell a good tuner? (sorry.....a little off topic)

Soo I cant decide on what turbo set up to go with.

I have a EJ22T block
eagle rods
Weisco .20 pistons
WRX heads with full port job.
Grimespeed 38mm EWG
850cc Modd injectors
all supporting mods

Currently I have a VF39 but I was thinking going VF48

Think Ill get any power gains between these two turbos and my set up?

I got my 69k mile '04 STi tuned yesterday at MASE in Jacksonville, FL. Dyno is a Dyno Dynamics. Baseline pull 296whp. All done on the cheapest 93oct money can buy.

Perrin DP
HKS Carbon Ti
Perrin FMIC
Perrin CIA
255lph
Perrin EBCS
VF48

After tune
314whp and 337wtq

I was really happy how Mase kept the power going to redline. I picked up 35whp all the way to 7k over my baseline!

Last edited by BVM; 09-21-2009 at 05:15 PM. Reason: added the VF48 to the list because some are too stupid to connect VF48 thread to someone posting their results
