Default Who's got the best deal on tire mounting?

I have a set of 17" wheels I need to get some Blizzaks put on. I have gotten a few quote in the $125-$150 range, which, maybe I'm delusional, but seems ridiculous.

Are there any shops doing it for $50-60? Hate to say it but I miss Les Schwab!

I got mine mounted/balanced for $64 at Johnson Tire in Eagle River.

Glad I got another set of wheels for all vehicles now. You'll take an initial hit financially, but now I don't have to wait in line or hurry around town when the snow finally hits.

Plus I'm not like all the idiots running around on studs for the past two weeks. Yeah it's nice to be prepared, but you're wearing down the studs and the roads.

Hi, I'm not yet in Anchorage but the air force is shipping me up there for the next 3 years. So don't know what to expect, glad to see such an active group in the area! I saw a lot of mention of the Blizzak's, is this what everyone would suggest because as soon as I get there late November I will be needing to pick up some snow tires and get them mounted.

Blizzak WS60s are probably the most popular among AKIC members.

Bridgestone just released the new LM60, which is the same tread pattern and composition as the WS60 with a stiffer sidewall. It'd be worth checking out.

So do I for normal tires, but the low pro tires are a pain to do and with the worn out equipment at the hobby shop it's much worse. (I used to do tires for a living)

Which one is that? Ft Rich has rim clamp but they are worn. Elmo only had center post last time I was there, granted it's been 5 or 6 years though.

I am getting some Michelin X-Ice Xi2s mounted next week. There were rated the #1 studless performance winter tire; we'll see!

Michelin has a $70 rebate with a purchase of a set of 4. I bought a set from TireRack and they were $20 cheaper (with the rebate) and that included shipping.

Yeah they have three of those but for the low pro's they got one that you sit the tire town like it would be on the car to brake the beads then it sits on a center post on the same machine and its a similar process. Im not going to say its new haha but i mean if you have time check it out. It worked for me and I had never done a low pro's and had previously changed out my 16's last year.

This is coming from someone with no experience in tires till last year btw.

OT, I would never buy Michelin X-ice not because they are bad just because i have driven Blizzys for 6 years on 4 vehicles and couldn't be paid to use anything else.
my .02

Alaska tire and rim on dowling IS fast and fair priced. 60 for my tires mounted and balanced. took about 15 minutes in and out. never been happier

Alaska Tire quoted $120 to M&B 4 195-65-15 tires from Tire Rack. The last time I used them they quoted $80 on the phone, then charged me $100.

I went to Muffler City for about the sixth time and they did it for $50. I failed to tell them there's no caliper clearance for weights behind the spokes until I went to pick them up (I'm running 15x6.5 rally wheels on an STI). They politely took them back into the shop and rebalanced, placing the weights precisely where I requested and removed all the adhesive tape without scratching the wheels.

I guess they all have bad days.

Johnson Tire quoted me $150 for M&B. I asked if that came with a kiss since they were trying to screw me. They'll never touch any of my vehicles.
