Tom,
While you're at it, how about some WRX hubs and brake disks in a 5x114 bolt pattern? All other dimensions stay the same. I sure would love some 09 STi wheels to fit on my stock 07 wagon....just sayin'

Not possible. The hub face it not large enough OD to let you do 5x114 pattern into the old 5x100 hub.

2nd that poor customer service from 6gun.
I have one of the very first set of front 05 STi hub sets they made for the 04 w/ the knuckles machined and hub redrilled. I love them, install went easily, and they've been great for years now. (And i got to keep my Tokico D-specs... )But it took me forever to get them.

I guess worst case now is if i have to ever replace bearings again in the front, then i have to get someone else to redrill a new set. However, i could just pull my rears and install 5x114 hubs and just use stock ones on the front and run 5x114 wheels on my car. Either way i'm probably fine.

+1 For their product. Was a great service.

can anybody shed some light on how the adapter collars are built? when the time comes, i'm looking to do swap to 5x114.3 hubs instead of replacing my 5x100 hubs. having the knuckle machined down is easy enough to do, but i know nothing about the adapter collars.

if not, a remachined 5x114.3 to 5x100 front hub/knuckle would be the next best thing for me.

I have been thinking about making a few other parts, and I think I could make these too, it will be January before I have the parts created, but I will keep everyone up to date.

Maybe tom at kart boy can get something done quicker.

It's just a spacer that fits behind the tone ring. So you pull the tone ring off the axle, press on the spacer, and press on the tone ring. It's around 5mm thick.

What about increasing the overall diameter of the hub face by 40-50 thou? I'd be glad to use my car as a donor to see if it'd work.

A 5x114 hub face is so large that a WRX rotor will not fit over it as the top hat is not big enough. 40-50 thou won't cut it.

I don't remember off the top of my head the diameter difference. I'll measure it when I get into the shop later.

Now I understand why the outer edge of the original 6gun kit looked shiny -- they were removing (a lot of) material so the stock WRX rotors would fit!

So tally so far for the required bits and pieces is:
  1. Machined knuckle
  2. Re-drilled and shaved hub
  3. Tone ring adapter collar

What am I missing?

ok let me ask this. With the larger hub. Would it fit the stoptech 328mm kit, as the hat I think is larger. So I could just have a machine shop just do the work. I don't know just a thought.

Yes, assuming that the 328mm and 332mm rotor hubs are identical (likely).

I asked Stoptech directly if their rotor would fit over an STI hub and they said yes. In fact, the rotor supplied in the WRX and STI kits is identical, with the rotor hub dual-drilled from the factory (at least on the 332mm kit).

So, ~14mm is about .55118 inches. It's been a while since I had my rotors off the car, but I could have sworn that an additional quarter inch could have been added to each side of the hub of a WRX without conflicting with anything. But this may not be the case.

I have to rotate tires this weekend so I'll take some pics and measurements (just for my own sanity)....it'll be nice to verify if something like this is plausible.

What am I missing? Currently, the most mysterious bit for me is item 4. I heard someone say something about heat shrink (MasterKwan?).
Nothing is needed to make the deriveshafts fit.

I was confused by this post by MasterKwan:

That spacer he's talking about is, I'm now realizing, the tone ring adapter collar, right?

yeah, crap service. sure. Crap parts? heck no. live savers. What other options do us 04 STi owners have besides continuously replacing our bearings with more crappy ones...?
