I don't really agree. It's about 3" taller, and 3" wider, but it's shorter than the 2009. I'd rather not have so much extra height, perhaps, but the length isn't an issue, and I prefer a wider car to a narrower one. (Well, unless we're talking about yacht girth... ) And the weight is pretty equal.

I know it looks bigger, but really......... it isn't as "huge" as everyone seems to say it is. The inside has a lot more usable space, though - that's nice.

I'd love to see a sporty Legacy wagon on our shores(!), but please do it without the horrible two tone colors, decals and maybe tone down the chrome. It seems as though Subaru goes out of their way to demonstrate bad taste.

I'm a fan of wagons but I think this new body lends itself better to the Outback trim.

I would gladly replace my STI with this for the family (minus the two tone and vinyl)

As of right now my option are the Tribecca (umm no) and the Outback (... maybe, but not excited about it)

I'd much rather put my money for a family hauler into something like this.

I honestly like it and i think that all of you should stop complaining about its looks, and the chrome and the decals...come on, its a promotional vehicle, get over it, they arent forcing it down your throats, and its not for consumers if you dont like it just look away and dont click on the thread.
And it seems to me that all the people who wanted the leggy wagon and loved it when the JDM model was shown are now bashing it. WHAT DO YOU WANT? Subaru is not bringing the jdm model of anything over ever, so you might as well try to like this, because chances are, with the TSX wagon coming out and other manufacturers going back to wagons, this is gonna be here, and i want to be first in line to get one.

PS. everyone should get off the case of the legacy/outback because they are selling well in spite of all the complaining from NASIOC and the rest of the internet peanut gallery

Edited to add a few new photos found from various internet sources.

I really like brakes. I also like STi like quad exhaust look on the legacy wagon.

Nice, don't care for the two-tone exterior and the bling wheels but otherwise it looks good.

Default I like...

the matte black grille surround. The production chrome version visually competes (rather than compliments) with the chrome center wing motif. Not so here, as the chrome wing now pops forward, and the black grille surround recedes into the background.

It's a subtle change, but one that reaps huge visual rewards.

Default Also interesting...

is that the name "Subaru" is placed large and directly under the the oval logo on the rear hatch; but also rather subtle in terms of color. I like that.

The current badging on the rear of Subaru cars is really very poor. This is a better solution, I think.

This is a Legacy GT Wagon I could get back into. Will never touch an Outback with autobox. 2 tone means nothing to me since its a show car. I'd love to see them bring bright RED back as an option for the Legacy just like they had in the late 90's.

I think I like it. Not so much the two-tone stuff as the idea of a Legacy Wagon STI especially if it comes with worthy seats.

It should have an improved SI-Drive with the following settings:

Sport (the old "Sport Sharp")
Economy (a real 5+mpg-improving setting, not "I"[see below])
Lot (the old intelligent -- very nice for easy driving in parking lots and stop&go traffic, but it's not an economy setting)
1. If you leave it in Sport, it should stay in Sport.
2. Should be able to be temporarily locked into "Lot" as a valet setting.

This. It would be excellent without these two cues.

I am still hoping for the turbo 3.7L H6 450 bhp Legacy STi hinted at last year.

omfg! other than the 2-tone paint scheme (red is hot though) and wheels; this car is FTW, especially the interior. i don't care much for the red suede, but the seats, carbon fiber? interior trim, red stitched leather is all hotness. also considering this car is not slammed, its its not just a show car and probably handles pretty decently.

definately my next car if the wagon returns!

That's a hot looking wagon. I guess Subaru is thinking about bringing it back. It's a shame the previous wagon didn't sell.

As far as the VIP goes, I really like the paint job, but not much else. I get that it's wacky SEMA, but the engine bay is just ridiculous.
