i dont know the details but RHD and LHD beams point at different directions down the road accommodating to which side you drive on. so... these reverse them im guessing. example being. ppl with JDM 02 headlights in the US. this would be a good investment i suppose.

Wow ive never seen these before. It seems like they do fix the beam pattern problem. Has anyone used these yet?

there is already a thread or three floating around right now. Honestly, whats the point?? You have to open and completely disassemble the lamp to replace them. Why not, for not too much more in total cost with some careful shopping, do a tsx hid retro and get much better light??

The JDM HID's with the black chrome housing are PRETTY good. Im very impressed with mine and feel no need to upgrade. Ive compared them directly to BMW's and TL's and see very little difference in light cutoff or output. A retrofit is MORE work and MORE money, so I disagree with that statement.

those cutoff plates are too expensive imo.
these are the mods I've done to my bugeye rhd jdm halogen projectors in sequence 1. ebay 6000k hid kit w/ rebased h1 hid bulbs-blind oncoming drivers so I adjusted lights low and to the right. Even before adjusting lights, output was weak, spotty, patchy w/ glare, decent cutoff line but in wrong direction. honestly at that point the only thing I really liked was how the projectors change the look for the car. Output was very very unsatisfying, cant see around corners in mountains and off/on ramps. If I didn't have hella 500 fogs I things would've been alot worse. 2. I opened the lights and grinded the plates flat, this made things a bit better and didn't need to adjust the projectors low and to the right anymore, but the light output still sucks because of the halogen projector lenses and position that the rebased bulbs sit in the projector housing. the 6000k bulbs didn't help either. 4300-5000k the way to go. 3. one of the bulbs died within a yr and half(rebased bulbs are crap quality) and I didn't feel like buying new bulbs that often, and still unsatisfied with light output so I picked up tsx projectors, philips 4300k d2s bulbs, and pair of d2s bulb-->aftermarket hid ballast plug cable on ebay. I bought that cable to I could use my existing ebay hid ballast ignitors. 4. did tsx retrofit(didn't take pics...I should've) and oh mee lordie so much happier now. The lights work as good as they look. Finally happy and satisfied with light output. No complaints whatsoever. the retrofit took a weekend of taking my time and running to the store. If you have questions on the mod feel free to pm me. I was going to make a diy thread but didn't take pics, but I have cpl pointers to make things easier. btw I have a pair of the stock halogen projectors+housings+cutoff plates that I'm gonna post for sale soon. |

May sound like a silly question, but why can't you just switch the factory L & R cutoff shields to the other side (respectively)?

That's pretty neat. If it were $100 cheaper I'd do it. $200 is too much. I can't really do a retrofit without messing with the black chrome finish.

![]() The only option I have ever thought of, as an alternative to grinding down the top of the shield to make it flat all the way across, is to go a step further and grind down the high side so it becomes the low side. Then mount it to the bowl from above (it bolts in from below normally). chris |

By the way, if there's anybody who actually bought these, are you interested in selling me the JDM versions you've taken out? My car is right hand drive, but I have a set of US headlights.
Cheers, Sime |

^ ?
These are for HID (they only came in RHD) JDM headlights. They have EDM lights that are LHD drive but I somehow doubt that these would fit in halogen lenses. The only US lights are reflectors. |

$190? Screw that. I'd rather pay $200 more and get properly fitted TSX projectors from Lightwerkz.
And I also don't have the balls to bake and pull apart my $900 JDM projectors. No thanks. |

cutoffs is a pretty touchy subject!
thing is, cutoffs between hondas and subaru edm/jdms are different. I have seen edm cut offs and compared them to the car i was driving at the time, a bmw 335. in true European spec, both headlights looked like this: ______/-----/------------- where the '/' is the focus point of each headlight.. the cutoffs are great with JDM lenses WITH EDM cutoffs if you are running HID light. I believe there is some difference between them as the EDM's were not designed for HID, so the lenses in the EDM projectors don't throw HID light as effectively. now with the Hondas and tsx/s2000/and even rx300 lenses, it looks more like this ___________/-------------------------- where both beams are sorta focused at a single point, and there is a curtain of consistent light output below the cutoff. apparently in Honda circles, EDM's must be in different parts of Europe than subaru because they actually aim for RHD roads! I can take pics of HID EDM cutoff+ JDM lenses and the 335 against the garage door sometime, if it helps anyone. thing is tho, all stock bmw projectors natively aim lower than the retrofits i have seen as they are intelligent, self-levelling and auto aiming when you turn the steering wheel and are grade-sensitive, so they adjust their height according to the angle of the road and pitch of the vehicle (on gas or on brake) |
