Default Caranuba wax on carbon fiber?

Just a quick question, is it okay to use caranuba wax on carbon fiber?

Its just a gel coat but I really recommend getting it clear coated first , or it just yellows. And it you get it painted before you wax it you will get a better job since they dont have to get all the wax off.

Is that with any carbon fiber hood?

However, if you do get a carbon hood, it would be essential to wax it.
Maybe a sealant first, then a good carnauba wax.

This will help protect it and keep it long lasting.

Seibon supposedly clear coats their hoods but I doubt it. I bought a seibon hood for my GC8 and just stuck it on the car. Within a month or two it started to yellow. I sanded it back, tinted it darker and clear coated it.
I also bought a seibon carbon rear spoiler for the car and painted the side and cleared the entire spoiler leaving the middle and insides bare carbon fiber with clear coat over it. Its been several months and no yellowing whatsoever.

So in reality if they are clearing the hoods its with a crappy product. As soon as you put it on the car the UV will start breaking down the gel coat and possibly the carbon itself. Eventually your going to have to get a new hood or have it resprayed, so you might as well do it now while its brand new and wont be NEARLY as much work.

the yellowing you are probably getting on your carbon is because they are using a resin that have no uv protectant in it, or its not a high temp resin. i also would doubt that their is gellcoat on it, i work with a company and all we do is high end carbon work for racing industry and we never use any gellcoat at all you should not need it your parts should come out of the molds already glossy, but either way a good automotive clear is a good idea.

The best way to protect your new hood is to paint it...

... the same color as the rest of your car.

Your mistake is confusing anyone who makes CF hoods for Subarus with a 'high end carbon' manufacturer.

You're doing dry carbon.. these hoods are wet lay stuff that have gel coats and have not seen an autoclave.

An autoclave is unnecessary, as long as you vacuum bag the part it should be fine. (Assuming you use pre-preg fiberglass.)
