Default bov sound changes

I have a 04 wrx. The car is completely stock as far as i know since i bought it used and was told it was. The bov just doesnt sound like it did when i first got it. Now instead of a quick loud pssshhh, i have a low drawn out psshhh. This really doesnt bother me expect for the fact i just want to make sure it isnt damaging the engine.

Thanks for reading

You say the car is stock and then mention a BOV. Does it have a BOV or no? If it's BONE stock, you shouldn't really hear ANY of that.

maybe check if the adjustment screw got loosened or something.
but you know a bov isn't all that great for the car if its stock, yer car is runnin rich.

like i said, i bout the car last year and it still sits the same. Only thing i have done to so far is change the oil/filters and put a new set of tires on it. From looking at the bov and reading online i dont think mine has an adjustment screw. It seems as if the only way to change the adjustment is to get a spring kit from forge.

that is the bov, not my car but the same one. thanks for the help

get a new spring. it sounds like yours is going soft. or you can open it up and stack some quarters in there like the stock bpv mod. and it's pretty normal for aftermarket bov's to not have adjustment screws.

are you 100% sure that your car is still making the same boost that it was before? if you are low on boost that will def change your bov sound. and bov's don't make your car "run rich" its only rich between shifts and is very minor.a junk bov or a bov not setup properly is were the real negative effects come from. finding a bov that doesnt leak or surge is the trick thats why the oem bpv is so nice.

check the lower spring. Mine went last year and did the same thing. If it needs replacing, contact Forge directly they warrantee their parts. So you should get a replacement for free. I will say, these guys are flat out rad in the service dept. After getting lost in the mail, they sent out a 2nd new spring right away, it literally got to my house (near detroit mich.) from Orlando within a few hours.

If ya let it go, it would likely create a noticeable vac. leak when it's open for the longer period...mine never stalled, but came pretty close a few times

i would assume it is still making the same boost levels. the car still runs as it did when i got it. i would think that with lower boost levels it wouldnt pull as hard but like i said in a pervious post i am a complete noob to this and still learning so any info, suggestions is appreciated.

just take it off, remove the 6-7 hex bolts, the top spring and piston and check the lower one. Once it's apart, it's a good idea to clean it and relube. the o-rings too
