Default Just installed clutch. Grinding problem. Can I adjust the clutch?

my buddy and I just installed a Stage 2 SPEC clutch in my 2002 WRX. I got my ACT flywheel resurfaced and torqued it and my pressure plate to Spec. Installed everything back. Got in the car and tryed to shift into gear and it doesn't go into gear at all. I try to put it in reverse and it grinds horribly. Is there an adjustment to be made on the clutch pedal or the shift fork on the top of the tranny? I am in desperate need of help. Please help me. Thank you

I need my car tomorrow evening so I hope someone on here can give me some good suggestions on what to look for. Ill get on tomorrow morning and see what is said. Thank guys

Did you try getting it into gear with the engine off? If so, does it work?

I would go back over everything, make sure the clutch fork pivot was reinstalled, etc.
Did you open the clutch fluid hose, if so rebleed the line.

We did not try geting it into gear with the engine off. We did not bleed the clutch fluid either. Is bleeding the fluid really necessary when changing a clutch?

Not unless you open the hydraulic system, which you probably didn't.

How did you do the TOB? Did you put it in the tranny with the release fork attached and then mate the engine/tranny and pop the TOB onto the PP? Or did you preinstall it on the PP fingers and then manipulate the release fork into it after the engine/tranny was mated.

Anyway, that may not be it, but the end all say all is the disk is not disenaging from the PP/FW. Were you particularly careful when you aligned the disk before putting the PP back on? It can get pinched if it is not properly aligned and it will never release.

I installed it the first way you mentioned.
My buddy is the one that has installed several clutches in Subarus. He made sure the clutch and Flywheel was mated right and he was the one that aligned the clutch.

Did you manually push the release fork to make the TOB 'pop' onto the PP fingers?

yes I did. but that is what I think is the problem. I don't think the throwout beraring clicked into place. When I take the slave cylinder off the clutch fork, it has like an inch and a half play in it. What should it have?

look through the hole.

pull the rubber boot off the top of the clutch fork and use and light and look in.

see if you can see anything odd.

Try getting into gear with the engine off, it that works then the clutch is not disengaging and with the engine running it WON'T go into gear.

No, you do NOT need to bleed the clutch, only if you open the clutch fluid lines.

Ok well I had one of my good subaru buddies come over and check it out. He seems to think that everything is fine and that I should bleed the slave cylinder and fill with new fluid to see if that works. If that doesn'r work, he said for me to change the slave cylinder. He said that there is air in the system and it is not pushing the throw out bearing out far enough to engauge the clutch. I will let you all know how it goes.

Well the problem was fixed for 20 minutes after I flushed the slave cylinder. It came back after sitting for 20 minutes so my guess is that the slave cylinder is gone
