I have an entire 04 sti parts car. and if as simple as grounding the brown wire and just running the green wire to the B4 pin then I'll probably just do that when I swap in the 6 speed.

All:

This thread has not been kept up very well, so I am going to be very through in what I am looking to do.

It should be noted that I am taking this as a "slow" project, and I am not intending this cluster to be actively in my car until my power train warranty is over, or I have switched transmissions to a 4.44 5spd (thus no need for a power train warranty).

Included will be links as to where I got my information from, and a step by step in what I did, along with the car's prerequisites.

So....

Cluster:2006 STi Limited Cluster
Car:2006 WRX Ltd

[u]Initial Trial Fit:
With the initial trial fit, these are the things I noticed:
- There is an extra pin in the STi cluster (A12 --DCCD4 plug) that there is NOT a spot for in the WRX plug, so I can not fit the WRX plug A into the STi receptor A. Proposed solution is to jack a 2006 STi VIN form autotrader, order the cable (once I have the part number), and mess with that cable, thus not destroying the stock cable.
edit: This was verified as true. A version of a solution is posted below. I think I am going to go with a new cable harness, but if you have the means, not a bad solution: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=965990
- With it connected as such, there was a VERY high pitched drone, as noted in this thread.
- Temperature did work correctly (note: I have a LTD).

Proposed Plan:
- Find out if I really have to cut Pin C9 to kill the loud, face melting tone, or what a good solution to this is. I might get a new "C" cable if I have to do this.
- Check the dimmer, and see if I need to implement a cutting solution (get another set of cables to cut)
- Check and see if the "A" socket will fit. I think it will. I think I just have an extra pin, and I may need to get a STI 2006 socket/wires and mangle that so I don't have to do any cutting of pins in the cluster (get part numbers for a clean install).
- Check out Tacoma, and think about the milage I want to swap the cluster. I am thinking 60K (or 25K from now) sounds like a good time.
- Document all the part numbers I ascertain I need, and document along with pictures.
- Figure out how I am going to implement the DCCD controller. While I have no Center Diff, I would still like the lights to be operable. Why? I am an ECE/CPE, and it is an interesting puzzle to solve.
- Double check all the existing pinouts to ensure that I am not shorting anything, and that the preexisting pinouts work, or if I need to get a new "B" or "C" cable setup.

Summary:
I will continue to update this post as I find information for my sanity, and if I get something wrong, I will note it.

Recently did an 05 cluster in an 05 WRX and followed the info in this thread and everything went smoothly.

Thanks for all the info!

However, I do have a question in regards to the water temperature. There haven't been many posts regarding this. I was wondering if anyone knows why the water temp reading doesn't go to the middle where as it did on my regular cluster. Now it goes just about the quarter line.

Appreciate any info on this.

I read the note in the original post about the cluster buzzing is there anything I can do about fixing this issue. Also the dccd light is that only from 06 and up sti's?

I just read the entire thread page by page and did not find the answer to this question. If it was there, sorry, at least I tried.

Here's the deal: I'm swapping a JDM v7 STi cluster into my 02 WRX. For getting the OAT to work, can I simply do the same thing exemplified in the quote below?

Oh here's the diagram guys.

This works for my 2004 WRX using a 2004 USDM STi. Use at your own risk.....I'm not responsible if you damage something.

**bookmark**

Just picked up a cluster from 06 STi and planning on putting it in 02 WRX.

I've read so many threads on this forum, scoobymod, etc. but none seem to cover for 06 STi cluster into 02 WRX. Can someone tell me if I would be encountering the same problem as 04 cluster into 04/05/06/07 WRX or 05 cluster into 04/05/06/07 WRX?

The cluster I bought actually came with the A, B, and C connectors for the STi cluster. They were cut so they can be re-soldered onto my WRX A, B, and C?

Any other suggestions on this swap would be helpful.

Well I was bored today (sick called off work) and put the cluster in, I didn't need to trim any of the plugs which was a total bonus!!!

There was no wire in B28 location so I didn't move any wires.

I don't care about the diff light so I didn't ground B4.

There was no buzzing so I didn't clip C9.

I did not have my head unit in so I don't know if I blew any fuses.

I found out that doing this when you have NO MOTOR IN THE CAR IS A BAD IDEA!

I'm sick right now and didn't think about the fuel pump (duh) and primed it ohh mabey four times to watch the needles sweep.

needless to say I had to clean up a bunch fuel, but the cluster works and thats all that matters!!

Sooo.. 04 STI Cluster into 07 WRX TR requires minimal modification!!
