I almost got hit by this sneaky bitch going like 20 in a parking lot. I didn't hear ANYTHING and I look to the left and this bitch is going SO fast. Man I almost died.

1) hybids are quiet, a pedesrian is far more likely to step out than if a big block v8 with straight pipes was approaching.
2) some hybrid drivers have their nose in the air, basking in the prospect of being nominated for sainthood. |

and all sti/wrx drivers are the best and all evo drivers are the best and all the 350z drivers are the best and so on just keep going because that attitude just helps to prove that prejudice against prius drivers is real. Last edited by whoosh; 11-08-2009 at 12:25 PM. |

It's noisy enough in a city that one car's not going to stand out unless it's not no muffler, anyway. This is just more whining and an excuse to make ignorant statements about hybrids and bigoted assumptions about owners. It's like being in the middle ages and listening to people talk about Jews.

As a bicyclist in a downtown area; hybrids do a very good job at sneaking up on you. I see why the blind have such major problems with hybrids.

Amen. If you can't hear an electric motor than you need to get some q-tips. I can hear em just fine.

Hybrids make excellent cars to follow/spy on people.

Other issues to consider:
If you're buying a hybrid, you're more likely to be: a) driving in town b) driving a lot c) a taxi driver (Nothing against taxi drivers per se, but the only people who've come close to killing me as a pedestrian in the last decade were driving taxis at the time) Consequently the odds of pedestrian accidents are much higher than someone who drives a Civic for 5,000 highway miles each year. |

I'll say anything about taxi drivers, hybrid or not. They're the biggest menace to traffic of any type in town, even more than buses. Lots of those are hybrids now, too.
