How about some pics of the unit and the more to the point the clearance it has from the seat.
Thanks. |

I also installed the Boss and recommend it highly, the reviews are spot on. If you spend some time tuning it in with your system, you can get a surprisingly good low end kick. I enjoy it more than the original custom sub and amp that came with the car when I bought it.
The original, replaced sub ![]() I had to have the music very loud to feel the low end with the sub in the back of the wagon. Under the seat, and tuned correctly, the bass is actually much stronger and natural, especially at normal listening volumes. While it won't wake the neighbors, it is amazing for the price. If anyone is interested, the old sub is up for sale, Ill take any decent offer Anyone local that wants to hear it for themselves, just ask. Here are a few pics that I took, they don't show the clearance very well, but I can assure you there are no contact problems with the seat, track or its movement. I'll try to get a better clearance pic later today. Before - seat out, running wires ![]() In place ![]() View from rear seat ![]() |

Thanks for the pics, I am looking at the same. FYI the SOUNDSTORM USS8 8" Low Profile Amplified Subwoofer is the exact same piece of equipment with different badging.

I've been running the SoundStorm version in my 08 STi and it sounds good. I didn't bother to hook up the remote and just tweaked it with the knobs on the side till I liked the sound. I use the HU to turn the bass up/down if needed. I originally got a Kenwood KSC-SW10 and it doesn't really fit under the seats. I installed it in my Z and it sounds like crap compared to the SoundStorm. I'll probably wind up putting another SoundStorm in that car as well.

Has anyone run both the 10" and the 8" to compare sound quality of each? I bought both of them but installed the 10" first. It seems to sound pretty decent to me, just wondering if there would be any difference in running the 8" instead? I dont listen to Hip hop or rap and i dont want to piss off everyone around me. well that one neighbor is a PIA.
car is a 2010 FXT limited T |

I did some measuring, I don't think the 10 will fit under the seat in a WRX. Has anyone tried it?
How are you guys mounting these units? |

My thoughts on the 8" sub - it's a great economical speaker to round out the otherwise flat stock system. I paired it with a Sony Xplod receiver.
While it adds a nice punch to the sound, it won't rumble any bolts loose. The low profile and added remote gain control is a nice touch to such an inexpensive piece of hardware. |

I'm ready to buy one for the 08 STi. Has anyone hooked one up to the factory headunit? I'd really like to splice one through an OEM sub harness.

Great review, I think I'll be getting one (for the 2010 WRX I just picked up
)I have the same question as imma_stocker though... Can the OEM sub harness be used to hook up this sub? If so, can anyone point me to a pinout of the factory wiring plug? Even if a larger gauge power/ground cable is required, it would be nice to at least get the signal and amp turn-on lead from the factory wiring. ...and yes, the factory base stereo does suck. I am also planning on adding a fron component speaker, probably Infinity because it has 93 dB sensitivity and should work ok with the factory HU until I upgrade further, if I ever do. |

I wouldn't use the power and ground wires from the stock sub's harness. The other signal and turn-on wires should be fine.
I forget which is which but if you break out a simple light-blub style tester it should be easy to figure out. |

I just ordered one of these for my 09' WRX. I've read a ton of reviews on the web and haven't seen one bad one, but was curious on how it performed in the WRX. I'm appreciative that the OP took the time to post a review of this on here.
I already have a 2F200 SoundStorm amp hooked to my Polk DB651s door speakers, using the stock rears for some mid/low fill (running off of my CDA-9886 Alpine). I'm looking forward to having some better low-end fill without rattling the heck out of my interior trim panels. I was pleasantly surprised at how the SoundStorm amp sounded (compared to the deck running the Polks), so I am looking forward to hearing the sub. |

Hey guys, this sub look and reviews very well. Im thinking of getting two of them for my 02 wagon, but i have a few question, can i hook this up to my stock HU? also, what dose it take to run two of these subs for both the front seats? LMK. Thanks.

To run off the stock HU you need to run the normal remote wire to an IGN wire, power to the battery, ground close, and run RCA cables from amp to a line out converter (LOC). The LOC taps into speaker wires for signal. All of these wires can be used in the bundle of wires behind the stock HU.
vs , Soundstorm is bigger overall? |
