[email protected] Ver. 8 EJ207 + VF37 + Jr Tune WRX
As some may know my old 205 bit the dust a few months back. I picked up a full Version 8 EJ207 swap as a replacement, had it installed (thanks Tom!) and tuned by Junior the day before the EVO/WRX Shootout @ Etown in August. I ran it at the shootout (in 100+ degree temps) and it went ~12.9@108. I had been looking forward to running again in cooler temps and finally had the chance last Sunday. I'm still playing with launch RPM and learning shift points, but was able to click off one good run, [email protected]. When I left the dyno for my tune, Junior said the car would go 111-113 in good weather and he was dead on. I'll say it again, his tunes are the best dollar for dollar mods I have ever had on any of my modded cars. Info, timeslips and in-car video below.
Event: Test and Tune Location: Island Dragway (Great Meadows, NJ) Ambient Temp: ~60 Elevation: ~515 feet above sea level Weather: sunny Track and Conditions: brand new asphalt, 5 days old Tires: 205/55-16 RE92s Car: 2004 WRX Tuner: Junior of TheSHOP CT (Tuned at TurboTrix Dyno Day) Dyno Info: Old ass dynojet Peak HP at RPM: ~315 whp w/some correction due to 107 degree temps in dyno room Peak Torque at RPM: ~300 Baseline hp/tq for a stock on same dyno: No clue, maybe Jr. will post Target Boost: 21psi Target AFR: Fuel: Q16 Engine/Power Modifications: Complete JDM Version 8 STi EJ207 engine w/VF37 twinscroll turbo APS CAI Perrin Afta MAF Perrin Inlet Helix TMIC Grimmspeed P&P throttle body TXS DSBC manual boost controller Perrin crank pulley Stock bellmouth/HKS hybrid downpipe (Thanks Evan@Akuma!) MadDad intermediate pipe Hayward and Scott (ScoobySport) backbox Version 8 STi ECU UTEC w/ another awesome Junior Tune Driveline Modifications: SouthBend/DxD HD Stage 1 clutch (Perfect clutch at this power level, see review CLICK HERE) Suspension Modifications: STi springs, Cobb endlinks Other Modifications: JDM bumper beam, empty trunk (ran about 100 lbs heavier than usual due to more fuel and leaving back seats in)

Pretty crappy 60's I blame the tires...
Good runs I can only imagine with better tires really low 12s GL |

^^Some good 60's have been run on crappier tires... It just sounded like he was having to slip the clutch too much to me.
What rpm are you shifting at? I know this motor is good to 8k+, but I wonder where the turbo stops pulling... |

Good clean driving. I love these in-car vids.
I'm pleased for you. Especially after torturing yourself on two Sundays at Island Dragway for this. Consider our Black Friday get together at Atco next week. Great talking with you, Dave! Best, Coop |

I will have to try to find my time slips to see what my 60' foot average was? I know I was in the 1.6's with it all stock with NeoGens but there were a lot of 1.7 and 1.8's in the mix

nice start with the new setup.......but arent u disappointed that u upgraded from a td04 to (what im assuming) a high dollar twin scroll setup and ur time is practically the same.....and u were on q16?
was the 315whp tune on q16? seems low for a vf on a dynojet on q16, no? and the 21 psi seems low too.....some of the s203 roms i've seen are at 21-21.5 psi on the stock tune. do u possibly have an overlay of the td04 tune vs the vf37 tune? whats ur opinion on the new powerband compared to the old one? and was this tune maxed out or did u just add the q16 at the track for safety? not trying to be a downer or an ass, just curious..... |

Rocking the left lane at Island, that video looks so much like mine its crazy. Run looks good, a better launch and 11.9 is yours. Did you flat shift 3rd?

as far as the stock location turbos go.....stock location isnt a requirement and im not considering anything below 56 lbs/min. My plan is to replace the HTA Green on my wrx with something larger and then put the HTA Green on my STi and sell my OG Green. Im almost pulling the trigger on juan's rotated kit....but he hasnt responded to my last pm. As far as SL goes the dom4xtr, ATP35 and the Red are about my only choices. ATP vs dom4 is a coin flip in my book......Red is there if i wanna go cheap but will probably be hindered up top with the 8cm compared to the other 2. |

With that horrible setup my best 60' was 1.75, I changed the suspension setting for the shootout and I launched a couple of times on the streets and it felt awesome I think a high 1.6' is possible with the suspension adjustment. I have forge front LSD that should get me out the hole quicker. I was just comparing your 60's to your old 60's GL Yes, late night with the girlfriend..... |
