i think GTWORX's springs is more like 110% rate increase over 08 wrx with a milder drop (~1/5") while Cobb springs are 10-20% increase with a 1.5" drop which means the car rides on bumpstops.

The COBB springs i guess are meant for a different crowd then this GTWORX set-up.

In the meantime, you successfully steered me away from installing STI springs over my puny 2008 WRX strocks (new word) ...but I came across these Cobb springs aimed at the 08 WRX on your website—too stiff also? Purely curious as to what you think, I'm definitely waiting for the Combo.

No worries. Glad we could help. A few already answered your question.

Were you at the I A O B meet in Vegas? ( In and Out Burger)

also keep in mind the RCE( not GTWORX) springs will be designed for these shocks that Bilstein is making for GTWORX. And the stock rates are very low for this car, very low.

So apples with apples is key.

Ah, yes. Then, unless I've totally missed the point of these 27 pages, Cobb should perhaps put a little disclaimer on those springs saying something like "will nominally fit, but your 08 will ride like a Schuttler wagon and your shocks will be dead in six weeks." ;-) Is that about right?

I guess there are a lot of after-market parts out there like that. Man, for a noob suspension (especially Subaru suspension) is really complex. Fascinating though.

I wasn't at the IAOB meet, I'm in the Bay Area. I was planning to post my question just as you put up that photo, so I didn't want people to conflate me with the, er, ladies present. I do some 3D modeling, but it's for GIS, not standing next to cars. ;-)

I'm a GISer myself.

No modeling either, well...suspension modeling, and modeling sediment transport in the chesapeake bay. but offer me a burger and who knows....

Anyway, this is a complete package designed together to work well...it gives us a lot more to work with since we can throw out the "compromised" stock dampers and NOT use them as a building block. We are excited!

GIS-- Bizarre! You don't happen to have a website showing your suspension models, do you?

But yeah, this is very exciting. And who drives the new gray WRX, you or Myles?

Oh no, I don't use GIS for that.....just speaking broadly.

We don't have that stuff online anywhere, but I think we'll try and keep the community as up to date and involved as we can when we get more into the details.

Myles has the WRX, I have a Mini.

Realdesain may have been referring to sediment suspension transport model, could be anyway. I too work with GIS sometimes, but more peripherally, just translating climate model out put to a raster layer for visualization. Give the small sample we have already observed maybe we should look for a correlation between GIS use and WRX/STI sales? Now if ther was only a banana using Ossim on the list...

PRISM climate data? I've used that a few times, though not much.

Okay okay.....back on topic.

Yes, Myles will get upset ;-) Someone post a link to a 3D WRX model rendered in SketchUp, that should count as on-topic.

All sounds cool, will look RCE and GTWORX up for GIS banter and strut/spring installation when we move to DC in six months (cross fingers).

Default Even Ride Height with Bilsteins and...

Myles,

When you dropped your wrx 13mm/9mm front/rear it looked just about even, maybe a hair higher in the front, just based on wheel gap.
I have ordered the bilsteins and the yellows and I'm concerned that there will be no way to have the vehicle look even. A 17mm drop in the front I believe will be perfect, but in the back it will end up looking a little saggy. The other option is to adjust the rear dampers (+10) which will give a net drop of 7mm in the rear, and likely end up looking a little jacked up.
I realize I'm talking mere millimeters and this can easily be classified as nitpicky, but I think a 17mm drop in front and 12-13mm in the rear would be perfect and I can't figure out how to get there.
Camber plates?
Yellow fronts, black rears, -10 on the dampers (effective 15mm drop in the rear)?

^ I believe they are including cir clips to adjust the rear if I'm not mistaken.

No worries this is what we do and this is what we are working on as we speak. Its not hard but its also not easy. The clear objective here is a level drop. However each car can be different and the cir clips will come in handy for those with stereo's or who carry alot of added weight in the trunk or hatch.

We are working on the yellows now and the existing Blacks we have to do a special front for the GH cars. Its a TON of work, but in the end it will be very worth it.

The cir clips will give people endless options.
