I would not argue with that list.
Ehhh I would reverse/flip Button over Hamilton, Webber over Massa, and Rubens over kimi and then it would seem right.

^^^ Agreed

I Think Button is going were he could and thinks he has the best chance of doing well. H think he might be worried about being labeled a one hit wonder.

Brawn could have kept there comment about loyalty to them selves and I would have understood everything else they said.

kimi's going to sit out 2010 and count the money that ferrari's paying him to not race. He's announced that he's going to run in the WRC next year but still needs a ride. It would be funny if citroen put him on the junior team. hehe.

While I agree, they should have known Button wouldn't show any loyalty, they already dealt with his idocy in 04/05 with contracts, so they should know about him already.

When did he announce this? His manager today said he was looking at the Mercedes seat.

I'm confused - it's still just a rumor that Kimi is getting paid anything by a F1 team this year to just sit out , right? His contract was over with Ferrari, and he has no other seat, so who would be paying for him? I havent heard specifics on WRC sponsorship, so is it possible this rumor of someone paying him is actually Red Bull? Sponsoring a WRC year and then take a seat at RB F1 back in 2011?

Kimi is still contracted with Ferrari but doesn't have a race seat. If he doesn't race for anybody else in F1 they pay him 15 million euros. If he drivers for another team, Ferrari pays him only 13 million euros.

I have a feeling next year will be a fantastic batter between Mclaren, Ferrari, and Red Bull...I for one am very much looking forward to next year.

There's no reason to think that Mercedes won't be up there too. They weren't the fastest at the end of last year but they were in top tier.

My guess is we will See allot of Vettel on the podium maybe even Webber with some Hammi and Alonso and Masa in the top 5 or 6

Don't get me wrong I would love it Alonso and Masa were dominant I just don't think it will happen.

So according to Mr. Tiff Needell Schumacher is contemplating a return and may be at Brawn next year. Seems unlikely to me, but who knows?

Brawn fires back at Button:

http://formula-1.updatesport.com/new...ton-/view.html

Quote:
Nov.20 (GMM) Angry Brawn chief executive Nick Fry has announced pre-emptively that Jenson Button will not be released to commence work for his new team McLaren in the remaining days of 2009.

According to the Guardian newspaper, the 29-year-old new world champion is under contract until the last day of December.

"Jenson will not be doing anything at all for McLaren until the end of this calendar year," said Fry.

"And if he does, we will be looking on it very dimly."

He suggested that Brawn/Mercedes' position, after their title successes of 2009 and a cooperation dating back seven years, was prompted by Button's "signing process" with McLaren.

It is rumoured, for example, that Button's recent visit to McLaren's Woking headquarters was technically in breach of his existing contract.

"There are other constraints on what Jenson can do between now and the end of the year which we will be rigorously enforcing," Fry added.

A McLaren spokesman told the Daily Mail: "We haven't asked Brawn GP to release Jenson early, so this isn't really an issue for us."

I know Nick Fry is in charge, but I kinda think he's a ****. He ran Honda into the ground and kicked out their sponsors to have some non-industry person come up with a new sponsorship idea. When that failed, they did that stupid Earth car and talked about how F1 was going to be green. The guy's a moron or a tool: take your pick.

But if they want to keep Button locked up until 2010, they certainly have that right.

Yes, I've been reading this. VERY interesting. I'm not sure how I'd feel. I'd love to see Schumi in a car again, but I can't really imagine it would be a good idea. Frankly, it would be weird to see him not in red.

Kevin...thanks for the photos. I'm swooning over here.

Total sidenote: My desktop is a pic of Michael. Well, in a pitch today, we had to use my computer, and at the end, as I shut the powerpoint, the pic was visible on the big screen we were projecting onto. Someone in the meeting says "OH, is that your husband?" I just laughed and said "Not yet."

He didn't kick out sponsors, and when running the earth car for two years, they still had sponsors.

USF1 set to sign first American driver

Autosport

Quote:
Lopez set for US F1 drive

By Pablo Elizalde and Matt Beer Saturday, November 21st 2009, 09:21

Jose Maria Lopez has revealed that he will race for US F1 next season if he can secure the rest of his sponsorship package.

The Argentine driver visited US F1's Charlotte headquarters this week to conclude a conditional deal with team founders Peter Windsor and Ken Anderson.

AUTOSPORT understands that Lopez has 70 per cent of the funding required to become the team's first confirmed driver and is confident of securing the remainder with a contract with US F1 in place.

"Up until now we have dealt with this over the phone, and given the progress, we went to visit the team personally and talk to Peter Window and Ken Anderson about it," said Lopez. "We verbally agreed a deal that will be completed next week."

Windsor confirmed that he was very keen to finalise a deal with the 26-year-old.

"Until we sign the contract we can't reveal any details about the negotiations," he told Lopez's website. "I can say I have a profound respect for Jose Maria as a driver and a person. He would be a great driver for out team because he brings knowledge and mileage in an F1 car, apart from the extra motivation because he never had the chance to race and show his skill.

"I would be very happy if he raced with us next year. He's not just another driver on the list. Jose is more than that. He is a driver we are interested in and we want him to be with us. Things can change very quickly in motorsport. It would be inappropriate for me to say anything else.

"We would like to sign the contract as soon as possible."

Lopez is a former Renault Formula 1 test driver, and raced in Formula 3000 and GP2 between 2004 and 2006. He took a race win at Catalunya with DAMS in 2005.

He had to return to Argentina after the 2006 season, and has since raced in the popular TC2000 saloon series. He became champion last season and is currently leading the standings going into this year's finale next weekend. Lopez also contested several FIA GT Championship rounds in 2008 as part of the ACA Argentina Ferrari project.

The Argentine driver is not underestimating the task facing US F1, but is optimistic that it can be competitive.

"It's a new team, facing this project from scratch, something different to my experience in Renault, where it was a structure with a lot of years of experience in Formula 1," said Lopez.

"But I have been impressed by the commitment and professionalism with which they are facing this project. We have seen a windtunnel that's nearly real scale, something fundamental to the development of the car which hopefully I will be using in 2010."
Sorry, that should have been "South" American.

So the real question is, is there going to be a car for him to drive at the season opener?

Not unless they can find someone besides themselves to fund the cars. From the article, it seems obvious USF1 isn't going to pay drivers, but the opposite, but perhaps everyone knew this already. Looks like a shell game doesn't it...

I will be really annoyed if we have 12 teams on the calendar next year and one of them isn't Sauber.

It'll be funny if we have less an we had at the end of 09, especially with all the teams saying "oh noes, we couldn't do 45 mil budget" but we can quit the sport altogether

I'm am very optimistic about the new teams but the lack of news from any of them makes me think we may only have about 8-9 teams on the grid.

And doesn't the Concorde Agreement say there has to be 10 teams on the grid.

Uhhh, guys, Lotus has a car, Campos is working with Dallara, and Manor has a major sponsor, plus Sauber will buy Toyota's spot.
