Themadscientist is now part of the company. I have been wanting a tuner for a long time, and I have been encouraging Mark to put his incredible tuning skills to good use for years.
Those of you who know Mark, already know of his incredible talents when it comes to both tuning and installation. He has already tuned several Subies around New England, and has developed quite a reputation for the quality of his work over the past 7 years. At this point I do not know if he will be doing installation work, as I am leaving that up to his discretion. However, he is a VERY capable tuner, and for many people, he one of the only tuners they would allow near their ECU. He is able to tune multiple engine management solutions, so if you have an Accessport, A UTEC or an Open Source reflash, he can handle it. Including the more and more popular Open Source+UTEC combo that a lot of people are starting to run. Feel free to contact him through either this account or his new TMS@Defiantautospeed account. He is located in Beverly MA, but we are ok with traveling as long as the situation is right. |

So AccessPort protune is a yes? Street tuning only or have you made arrangements to rent dyno time somewhere?
If he has a place to do/is willing to do installs I'd love to hear some pricing. I have 18g/750 dw injectors/fuel pump/downpipe/3 port ebcs to put in and tune for... I would even be willing to work on the wrenching together. I just have not done topfeed injectors and have no place to work on the car myself. ![]() |

Right now we are setup for road tuning only using a WBO2 that is placed in the rear O2 sensor bung.
For the guys with an Access port I can tune it however you will need to go and download AccessTunerRace from the Cobb website which can be found here: http://accessecu.com/register/cobb.php Utecs and/or open source for all years supported by the Tatrix 2.0 are not a problem and I have tuned several vehicles running the very potent combination of a UTEC and open source reflash. A bit about me. I have been tuning and building Subarus since 2002 when the first WRXs came to the US. I have tuned just about every setup you can think of, from stock to full blown built motor GT35 setups. I have also tuned one of the fastest stock turbo 2.0l WRXs on this board. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=791695 I have been wrenching on and tuning cars since the days of carbs and points. I have been less active on the Subaru forums for a couple of years but have been keeping up with current trends in Subaru performance. |

Is it possible for you guys to un-do an EcuTek re-flash from circa 2006 and do an open source tune, or once you're EcuTek'd are you stuck for life with that product?

Mark will have to answer that one, as far as I know, once you are ECUTEK'd you are stuck with it. However I have heard of a trick involving an accessport that supposedly gets the ECU back into a state that you can flash it with open source. But that may be a trick to fix a bricked ECU. I dont know the particulars of it.
Mark flew back to Beverly yesterday and is likely still recovering from the 10 days of work/stress of the swap down here. Ill get him in here asap ![]() |

As far as I know all Ecutek reflashed ECUs are locked after 2006.
Ecutek has said that any of their tuners will return the ECU to stock for free. That was the last I heard, but that was ~6 months ago. I would give KTR a quick call and see what they say, with KTR being an Ecutek dealer they are the ones that know for sure. |

Beverly, eh? Whereabouts? I'm over in Danvers but my In-Laws live in Beverly, out near Endicott College.
I'll have to hit you up when I pull the trigger on the Cobb AP... or meet up locally just to shoot the sh-t |

I am over by the high school. If you are just looking for a tune then the AP is not needed. But if you want all the features of the AP well...... I am all ways down for grabbing a beer. |

The added features of the AP are nice, so I'll probably still go that route. I'll have to keep any eye out when Im in/around Beverly... and we'll definitely have to grab a drink sometime.
