I am a brand new forum member on the Hybridz site. I just received this infraction with no warnings whatsoever. They are seriously forum nazis over there! I re read my posts and the only thing I was really missing was capitalizing the first letter of sentences! wtf?
"Dear Tanuki, You have received an infraction at HybridZ. Reason: Violation of Forum rules ------- Per the rules agreed to, we do not allow IM text shortcuts in posts and we do expect members to use basic sentence structure with capitalization. Not college level grammar, just grade school level sentence structure! ------- This infraction is worth 20 point(s) and may result in restricted access until it expires. Serious infractions will never expire. All the best, HybridZ"

I'm all about enforcing intelligent communication... but it's pretty funny that they'd take that tack when the name of the site isn't even proper English.

^I am a fan of proper grammar etc, but in reality these are forums. The interwebz are like where the wild west disappeared to when the last frontiers were finally civilized! Also they should realize that no one takes the time to really read the entire forum rules. That being said we are talking about capitalizing sentences! Who really cares! If we are about enforcing grammar than you better believe I expect the green underline squiggle to tell me changes need to be made!

I expect you to site your references using ATA format. If you don't I believe it's all plagiarism and it didn't happen.

They are very strict about the rules, so it is important that you read them.

They probably just hate your style. People can sense if you get laid or not over the internet. True story.
For more info on "hating" or "haters" please refer to Snoop Dog's or Katt Williams work over the years. |

1) Did you not accept the rules of that forum? (Of course you did. No one can post on that forum without clicking accept.) 2) Is it not clearly stated in those rules regarding the use of IM text short cuts and capitalization and punctuation? 3) Do you honestly feel that when someone agrees to a set of rules that that person should be allowed to freely violate those rules right from the get go? 4) Do you honestly feel it is the staffs responsibility to remind members that they violated the rules to which they made the concision choice to click ACCEPT to without any form of discipline? Remember, your acceptance of those rules is purely voluntary. If you don’t like the rules set in someone else’s house, you are not obligated to party there. I wonder how the staff of this forum view member slandering other forums? … Best of luck drumming up sympathy for your lack of discretion. ;-) |

I have now received the maximum number of points allowed on http://www.hybridz.org (was banned) for no reason. They sure do run a tight ship over there. They are the masters of the interwebz apparently. The sad part is I can't even talk to another mod on the site about the treatment I am receiving over bad grammar. This forum (Nasioc) is not a part of their forum so anything I say here should not reflect their points system.
Here is my final PM I received from Mr Stalker pants: BRAAP has a spectacular aura aboutBRAAP has a spectacular aura aboutBRAAP has a spectacular aura about Default Re: You have received an infraction at HybridZ Quote: Originally Posted by Tanuki All I am saying is that if a moderator makes grammatical errors, than you should have a bit more tolerance with new members. Here is the thread in question; http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread...85#post1102685 This should help explain our position on the giving of warnings vs infractions; 1) Our rules must be accepted before any one is allowed to post. Clicking accept to those rules means you will at least abide by those rules, even though you may not agree them. 2) Our policy regarding IM text short cuts and capitalization and punctuation are covered in those rules, as well as the 2 links at the bottom of this post. 3) We do not allow members to freely violate those rules. 4) It is not the staffs responsibility to continually remind members that they violated the rules to which they made the concision choice to click ACCEPT to. Keep in mind that your acceptance of those rules is purely voluntary. No one is obligated to like or agree with the rules, but if they do agree to them, we expect them to abide by what they agreed to. These two links will help shed some light on our views of the basic sentence structure; http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=131518 http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=139501 No threats. The rules cover disciplinary action which the staff will act upon accordingly. Speaking of childish, how about that cry baby whining you did slandering this forum on another forum? Smooth, real smooth. You just keep digging yourself a deeper hole... |

^That is true. I just think it is funny because I wasn't even speaking in IM language etc. That would be like: ok c u l8r!
edit: I am not banned, but the infraction was bad enough that I can only send a pm every 30 minutes ![]() |

I can see why you would "thunk" that. "old 97 GC stage 9.5 Will sale $75k Pm offers" <--- Will sale, very nice!
Don't get me wrong, I think a warning with points towards a ban is rather excessive. But presenting yourself well on forums isn't a bad thing. |

^I do agree with that. Generally I do try to speak and type well. The post in question, uses "u" rather than "you" so I suppose that makes sense.
Honestly though, tracking someone down on a forum that is 1 million times bigger than yours to mod them? rly? haha On top of everything else, they allow a lot of grammatically incorrect thread titles/ posts etc. Makes me wonder how I posted incorrectly once and got hit with points. They are very inconsistent to say the least. Makes for bad leadership when you can't be consistent! |
