Nothing too good on Youtube for what I'm listening to now. Seasick Steve - That's All

I'd never heard of Seasick Steve til I downloaded the latest Top Gear, he's an old Mississippi guy who's apparently huge in the UK, but not in the USA. He's pretty good.

I don't mind most music but older country is the best background music for me.

Really the only thing I HATE is the "***** ***** whoop whopp, bust a cap in your ass my bitches and hoes" music. (Have no idea what that crap is called)

Sometimes 100.9 broadcasts from a tower that is about 500' from where I am right now. When they do that it drowns out anything within about 5 degrees up and down the spectrum. 100.5 is totally gone when they do that and 106.5 goes all crappy and weird... Luckily they don't broadcast from this tower much, but sucks when they do. As already stated above, I can't stand country, it makes me want to gouge my eyes out with the pointy end of my back brush!

Anyhoo, here's what I was listening to right before bedtime here: Southern Culture on the Skids - Camel Walk. These guys are pretty popular with hot rodders, but not much outside that circle.

Glad that this thread has caught on.

There is a cool group that has long since broken up. They had a fairly big release back in 1991/1992 around the time "Grunge" was in full swing, just before the Nine Inch Nails, industrial techno rock genre broke big. One of the founding members died of a brain aneurysm shortly after they recorded and the remaining members went their separate ways. Many critics have called it one of the best, most complete records ever made. I remember it for my own reasons...it was a searing slice from a time in my life during a particularly rough period that got me through and out of my funk.

THE GOD MACHINE-scenes from the second story....endures. It has been out of print for quite some time....original copies fetch nearly $70 on amazon. I "re-found" it on u-tube....Best I can describe it is a cross between grunge and Pink Floyd (atmospheric soundscapes).

I gave my copy away long ago to a musician friend and have been looking for another copy ever since. If anyone has a copy or finds one...please let me borrow it to add to my database.

I will list one song...one of my favorites from the album but if you are a music buff....listen to the other tracks listed on the side. I think it would be well worth your time. Each song flows into the next like a running dialogue between the band and listener when listened to in sequence.

The God Machine-

This is an awful sounding version of it on Youtube, but this is what I'm jamming right now.

One of 3 cassette tapes that I brought on my journey from Florida to Alaska in 1995. Yes, cassette tapes. Freaking CD players wouldn't work on a motorcycle due to the vibration. Had to use a walkman.

let's keep this thread alive!
