Hell back in 1980 a Colt M16 cost around 1000 dollars. Now they are worth near 20 grand or more. |

AS long as manufacturers raise their prices, guns that are still in production will still go up in value. Military specific guns will definitely continue to increase in value. You can have two guns that look identical, but one will be worth 5x or even 10x as much because of the serial number. Granted in the case of the m16 that is a unique situation and there will never be anymore civilian transferable "M-16's" ever. A transferable Mp5 auto sear (which is the part that actually makes an mp5 auto) is worth $20k, what we shoot are dealer samples and can never be sold to the public, but can be had for $2,500. Here's the thing, as more churches and work places get shot up, there's going to more and more of a push to control and ban firearms. By law in CA, you cannot have a detachable magazine on an ar-15 if it has two of the listed "assualt weapon" enhancements (like folding stock and flash hider or something stupid). So if you wanted to shoot an Ar-15, your magazine had to be permanently attached so that it could only be removed by a tool and so you would have to break the gun open and load rounds down into the top of the magazine like a bolt action rifle/SKS and so forth. (now there is the bullet button, which uses allows someone to push teh mag release with a bullet and not a finger). Still it's only a matter of time before we have 10rnd mag limits across the country and other crazy laws. At which point shorter barrels and semi auto weapons will go up in value, as they are grandfathered into the law. In the case of CA, all the ar receivers before the ban came in were worth $1000, just for the receiver. ON top of which, **** just doesn't get imported into the country like it used to, it gets less imported. Fed Ord would ship in a cargo container of SKS's, shoo the tarantulas out (wonder why CA has such an huge amount exotic creatures ) and sell them for $65. Eventually you could get an SKS for $100, then it was $150, then $175 and so on. Granted, inflation has caused the dollar to be worth a lot less since then, so I guess it's still the same price so you definitely are hedging against inflation. Jezzzus, I just checked J&G a mauser is freakin $350 now! My guess is that the reason they haven't made a big move on firearm laws after retard got into office is because of the economy. With just a few laws, you could literally put most of all the firearm related companies/business in the poor house and or out of business. Watch, as soon as the economy is good and fixing it isn't a priority, we should have a new person in office by then (unless for some reason the majority of the uneducated come out and decide to vote blindly, again), but the chances of laws being passed are going to be much greater. At which case, firearms will only go up in value. If you can afford to, you should keep everything you have and only buy more. What's gonna happen is you'll sell something then a few years later, you'll decide you want another one of the same and it'll be double price. |

Bob I agree with you on many things except I dont see anymore nation wide bans or big laws like that going through. The Democrats have acknowledged that the "Assault Weapon" ban of 94 is what got All the Republicans in the House and Senate in the 90s/2000s.
That and the huge strides that have been taken with the Heller case and the fallout from that. I dont see any big anti gun laws being passed. NRA membership and overall gun ownership across the country has sky rocketed in the last few years. As far as Obama goes. Im not a huge fan but the only gun law he has signed so far has allowed carry inside national parks. In fact the Brady Campaign rates him an "F" for gun control. That doesnt mean some sleezy politician wont try. But when they do we will be here to fight him. Last edited by C-grunt; 01-24-2010 at 04:17 AM. |

I agree with you. Seems they'll probably let states push their own gun control measures. Although, I do see in the future a very real chance of massive taxes/registration/etc for ammo. Some way for them to say "we aren't taking anything away, or keeping the common man from hunting; we're just making a box of ammo $100. Plus, we're tracking you're ID for all your ammo purchases. |

Caveman... Those Ubertis are really nice. Been eyeballin them myself but I might have to get the Beretta Stampede my boss is selling in 45 Colt.
Who makes the .357 lever? From the name sounds like a Henry. Another gun on my short list. |

The Yellowboy is a Uberti replica of the Model 1866 carbine made by Winchester, which was a much improved version of the Henry (1860) rifle. |

Thats a nice collection Caveman. When the zombies attack, you will be set for a good period of time
I was going to post this sooner, but issues with the upcoming baby prevented it; Got my CCW last week. Took about 10 days from the date the application was mailed. I am rather impressed with DPS's turn-around time. Esp. since I am told most people wait 40ish days to get it. |

I found some pretty good deals at the Crossroads gun show yesterday, unfortunatley lack of money kept me from securing them. I almost couldnt resist a $300 SKS, even without money! anybody know when the next gunshow comes to town? hopefully after taxes...

DAmmit, I didn't think about the gunshow, been kinda busy. Let me know if you guys plan on buying something there, I know a good amount of the dealers or someone that knows someone.
And if you see a big guy with a long blonde pony tail and a Hawaiian shirt, I'll have him take care of you guys. Just let me know what you are looking for. |

Ruger P95 first, maybe in time for valentines day?? Mini-14 would be a close second priority, as soon as taxes come back the hunt begins. AK and SKS will have to wait until they can found for a reasonably good deal AND when i have money for them. Shotgun, meh. SO, not all at once, but in the next year hopefully.

are you looking for any type of AK? looking cheap cheap or a good ak for a good price. A better built AK is always gonna hold it's value a lot better which makes a difference when you are talking about things like how straight the front sight is welded on, thats not an easy fix.
Give me till the end of the day, I'll let you guys know what I can get. BTW I have access to a SIG master dealer, so if you want a SIG.... |
