I get the impression that unlike the owners of "cheaper" cars such as GTR's and the like, they know that if they break the transmission, the factory likely won't pony up for a new one..

It also doesn't help their cause that these super cars tend to have some rather long first gear ratios (many can reach 60mph in first gear), which makes it hard to "launch" the car without leaving the transmission behind at the starting line.

The Gallardo can actually reach 63 MPH in first gear.

Good comparo with the Gallardo. It would have been better with a LP540 since it would have been an equal year shoot out.

a kid I went to HS with got a Gallardo for a graduation present. He totaled it street racing. Then his parents bought him an R8.

Interesting to see the two side-by-side somewhere other than his rich ass' garage.

correct me if i'm wrong.. but i'm pretty sure that nissan doesn't replace the gtr tranny's that go for like 25k a piece.. and wouldn't you think it's kind of stupid that you're paying 200k for a car that can't be used to its full potential off the line? but then again that's if what you said is correct.. all in all.. yeah, im defending the "cheaper" car lol, cuz with the same money invested in a gtr.. its highly doubtful any of these cars would keep up on the 1/4 or a track for that matter lol

For the same amount of money, at the end of the day you are still driving a Nissan...................

LOL.

Exactly. I thought the Gallardo ran a 12.2 at the end. Pretty darn quick for a street car.

Yeah, you completely missed what he was saying:

A couple GT-R owners were pissed when they abused their cars and Nissan didn't replace the transmission for free under warranty. He was saying people that buy Lambos and such don't abuse their cars because they actually know better, unlike the retarded GT-R drivers that blew up the internet with their idiocy.

I actually like the look of the R8 better. Sure the Lambo is more visceral, but there is just something about the Audi's design that has always struck me. Plus, I might actually be able to afford a used R8 in a few years...I can only dream of affording a $200K Lambo.

You might want to look at the values of the Gallardo & Murci. You would be surprised.
