BFGOODRICH g-Force R1 or Nitto NT-01?

anyone have experience with any of these tires? track event in april/may need tires for spare set of rims any thoughts ? good? bad? other choices for track only tires?...i would definitely pay an extra 20 to 50 bucks per tire if it's worth it..also i need uni directional for rotating purposes.. these seem to be good choices for the sub 700$$ a set.. just wondering if anyone out there has specific examples blah blah...thanks

To answer your question, I have ran 4 sets of NT01's and am running on my 1st set of R1's currently on my S2000. I like the R1's better, and will be using them from now on. I am one second faster on 245/40/17 R1's compared to 255/40/17 NT01's on a 2 minute/lap roadcourse. The R1's are a lot lighter, have better grip, and are suprisingly durable. The only reason why I'm selling the 3 tires is because they are too big for my car...

I will buy another set of 255/40/17 R1 once I sell my 275's.

They're two totally different types of tires. R1's are slicks and NT01's are R-Compounds. NT-01's can handle rain, R1's won't. R1's will have more grip and heat resistance. You can also use Toyo RA-1's. They have the same compound as NT-01's.

Man i WISH i could fit those on my rims and in my car!! hahaha i would have bought them from you already ha... i'm on stock rims on an 07 at this time i need more mods if i want to be able to fit that kinda meat on it hahaha

Sorry, they are both DOT legal R comps, neither are slicks. The R1's are a bit softer, faster, and naturally don't wear as well.

The NT01's aren't really ok in the rain, whereas the Ra1 is.

So, they are different tires in the sense that the R1 is a bit faster, but they are certainly in the same overall class. An R1 is closer to say a Hoosier or V710 DOT legal tire, than an RA1, NT-01, R888. But they are all DOT legal R-comps none the less.

I was looking for more feedback on the wear and how the tires were. colatkitty gave me some feed back with some track times which is awesome thank you!. I am going to go for the extra money and get hoosier a6 or the r1's. They sound like a good track tire for non wet situations. I think with an awd car on slicks in the rain could be fun..but i dont know never have been in that situation..i had some worn re01r's that where 75 percent gone from a track event and driving in the rain was a hoot...but i could be wrong and slicks could be a nightmare.. thanks for the advice and comments.

Are you racing or just lapping? If just lapping, why are you running Hoosiers (R6's btw) or R1's? Have money to burn? A bet with someone?

Compared to Hoosiers, they wear better, don't cycle out as quickly, but are a bit slower. All of the things you would expect.

Compared to NT01's, they wear quickly, but are stickier. In generally, you do not want to be on R1's for random track days. It makes no sense not to spend less on the longer-lasting NT01s, or even RA1s for that matter.

Spending more to have tires that save you a 1/2 second, but wear out twice as soon isn't generally the smart choice for DE.

I am very new to the slicks and those types of compounds your input is much appreciated. I was thinking the nto1 because there only 550 for a set of 235's 17's and the r1's on the other hand are only 110 bucks more for a set.. advice? thoughts? again this is just for me and learning how the car reacts on a sticker tire then a re070 bridgstone and re01r bridgestone. I am very new to running different tires all the time..i finally can afford to try things out and again all your advice and input is really cool !!!

for speed = R1's

for longevity = NT01

If you are just doing DE's I'd get the Nittos.

Where can you get a set of 235/17 NT01's for $550?? That's about $120 cheaper than Discount Direct...

Well, the R1's aren't "slicks" either. Just a little stickier r-comp track tire.

The NT-01 is stickier than both the 070 and 01r. The difference felt between the R1 and the NT01, while measurable, is night and day by any means.

I can't think of any reason to go with the R1s, except for wanting to know what they feel like after you've been on the 01s.

those nt01's are priced matched it's 550 plus tax for the set from discount tire..i called the guy and he said he could go for 560 plus tax so then i was like ok sounds great.
i got the number from an ebay supplier that had those and nt05's google was good to me i guess...
