Here are mine, these are from an 09. Same rim, they just started out as a dark grey. Painted flat black.

I painted my first wheel today,

Cleaned and dried the wheel, then sanded with 400 grit followed by 1500 grit. Used alcohol and microfiber cloth then rewashed it and dried again. Finally I hit it up with a duplicolor prep wipe and then got down to painting.

I used rustoleum primer, paint and wheel clear coat. It's almost too sparkly looking up close but from a few feet back I don't mind the look at all, and for under 35 bucks for everything I bought for the project , I'm happy with the results.

I just painted one as a test wheel so hopefully I can bang the rest out over the next few days. The pictures aren't shot under an ideal lighting situation but I'll get some better ones up once I finish the other 3 wheels.

sorry about the glare..but I did another coat of clear on my center caps.

it's rustoleum silver high performance wheel coating..i used all rustoleum products for this project

Stock rims from my 2007 2.5i "SE"
Sanded down, primed 3 coats, painted 3 coats, clear 2 coats. installed, and pointed at!
Hot pink (Outdoor paint).

Some random spray got all over the tires, so I just used a little bit of carb cleaner on a rag to take it off. Followed by tire cleaning foam afterwards!

Make sure you have a full day to dedicate to this process and don't underestimate the work!! Clean...sand with 1000grit....prime....four coats of color of preference with 2000 grit sanding in between...two coats of clear coat, let all dry overnight and your good to go!!

My paint job feels rather rough; probably because I didn't sand in between coats. I applied another can of clearcoat on top of the first because I thought they looked like could use another layer. I like the way they came out, even though they are still a bit rough to the touch.

and I photo shop hacked them on just to get an idea of how they'll look

17x7.5 Rota Downshift
Used to be an ugly faded bronze turned greenish with a polished flaking gold lip...
So I painted them

Sanded with 320
Primmed with Glasurit 285-500 HS Primer Grey -3 coats
Sanded with 400
Self-etching Primer on bare metal spots
Plum Crazy Purple Metallic (paint code C7) -5 coats
BASF RM DC5600 CTR Production Clear -1 coat

The clear is a little rough and when I had the new tires mounted the guy was retarded and chipped up all four wheels

Any way I'm going to touch them up and then re-clear them.

I'm debating on doing my stock rims on my LGT but..... I'm not too fond on the whole spray paitig the rims thing. Guess if I do end up doing it I will have to put like 5 coats of clear coat on it do to lovely NY roads.
