Unhappy ej255 into 02 wrx?

First all, thanks for anyone who can be of any help. Will an 07 ej255 swap in an 02 wrx without any problems? My mechanic said I'm having oil issues thats causing the left side intake cam to lock up and he's not sure if its the block or the oil pump. All things aside would it just swap right in?

The car ran fine for the first 3 days after the swap but when I started it up one night it start making a screeching sound and then it would not start.

Any help would be great. Thanks

Did you use your heads or 255 heads?

With your heads, yeah, with 255 heads, no. You would need to block off the AVCS ports, or do wiring and an ecu to use the AVCS.

im pretty sure he used my heads. so the motor not starting/having oil problems wouldn't be the compatibility of the sb but something else.

Probably the pump. But verify the head and cam issue first.

thanks a ton..could you clarify what the cam issue would be..whether or not he blocked off the AVCs port?

It ran fine for 3 days and then it cut out and the oil light came on and it wouldn't start. Just to clarify the car had been sitting for over 7 months before I got around to fixing it.

Thanks again.

Yeah. If he used 255 cams he needed to block off oil ports.

Once the oil light comes on USUALLY there is damage that needs to be fixed. Bearings, rods, crank, cly walls, pistons, who knows. Depends on how bad the failure was.
