Default speed sensor, need help asap

hey whats going on. so im having a big issue with my speed sensor. my swap is a 02 wrx into a 96 legacy. im running the legacy tranny so its a legacy speed sensor. its only 2 wires so i had to tap into it to run back to the ecu. in the past couple days over 45mph my speed sensor pretty much shuts off. when the speed sensor isn't working the ecu thinks im not moving. so im pretty sure it puts it in fail-safe mode or whatever you call it.

is my speed sensor on its way out or something? why only after exactly 45mph?

any help, thoughts, ideas, anything would be much appreciated

so back to my speed sensor issue. i went to the junk yard last night, got a speed sensor outta a 97 legacy wagon. plopped it into my car got on the high way. 45 - check, 50 - check, 55 - check......60....crap. 60mph my speedo dies and falls to zero. so i added 15mph but it still isn't working right. did i get another crappy speed sensor? or is my wiring messed up?

You are tapping into the wrong wire. You need to leave the two wires that run from the cluster to the VSS alone. There is one other wire that runs from the cluster to the ECU and this is the wire that should be spliced in. Typically this is a Green/Black wire, it needs to be a straight run from the cluster to the ECU to pin A1 (Green/Yellow). This circuit also will provide a signal to the CC unit which I'm sure you've already removed.

i have a 2007 Subaru wrx and i blew the 5 speed last may with 370 wtq it was only a matter of time over the last 11 monts I have managed to get Exedy stage 1 clutch,Exedy Lightweight flywheel, 2006 Sti 6 speed Transmission, Sti driveshaft, Sti r-180 rear diff, Custom Chromolly axles from the driveshaft shop and know all that i need is throughout bearing and trani bolts and shifter linkage. to make a long story short I have financially exhausted my bank account and am looking for the full 2006 sti shifter linkage assembly because the transmission I bought didn't come with it because It came out of a 2006 wrecked sti. I called my local Subaru dealership and they want over 500 for the shifter linkage all the bushings nuts and washers etc...and i am not trying to pay that kind of money
