Default Engine Choice

So I'm planning on building a custom car (non-Subaru) using a Subaru turbo charged 4 cylinder engine and stock engine management. For this project, a stand-alone engine management system is not an option. I'm looking for opinions on what year STI/WRX to seek out for a "complete swap". It needs to be capable of 350whp so an open deck block is not an option. which rules out the EJ205. It also needs to be a USDM market swap. I was thinking an '04-'05 STI swap for the slightly more simplistic engine management system (compared to the newer cars) and semi-closed deck, but I'm open to opinions and information.

So what are your opinions and why?

Sounds to me like you are looking for an 04-05 STi swap.
