Can you use an immobilizer from an 06 WRX with an ECU from another 06 WRX or are they a paired couple? My swap did not come with the ECU, but did come with everything in the column including the immobilizer. So I hope that the key I have is linked with the column not the ECU.This will be going in a 982.5RS shell
I do not want to run a standalone for emissions reasons. Which also brings the question of the VIN when they scan the bar code on the door then run the VIN from the ECU. Since it's a newer model engine I will cross that bridge at that time. Thanks in advance for any responses.

yes but the dealer must sync the keys to that ECM. So you will not be able to start the car , you will have to tow it to the dealer to be programed. You also need the immobilizer control unit from the 06 and the immobilizer code.

So after reading a couple threads. I have to have the matching ECU, Imob box, and gauge cluster so miles are not changed. the transponder in the coulmn appears to just recieve the signal, but the imob box actually makes the communication with the ECU.
Long and short. Without the original ECU I have to buy a new cluter, imob, keys and ecu so they all match... Ouch... |
