This is correct. I forgot it. I'll add it above.
They will physically plug in, but because they flow more fuel the car will run rich. Getting it tuned will correct this.

You will actually lose performance with a BOV? is it strictly for sound? sorry for the noob questions....i know nothing about turbo'd cars and i am just starting to educate myself

to get 300whp on any given dyno, including a mustang, you need a minimum of an 18g with 93 octane. If you have e85, you can hit 300whp on a vf series turbo.

) and you're waaaaaaaaaaaay in over your head. Never mod a car past your level of understanding. If you do, you will mess up, do something wrong, break something, lose a lot of money, and in general suffer a ton of headaches. This a great place to learn, and a terrible place to be spoonfed answers. Also in being spoonfed without learning on your own you're not soaking up what you need to be learning in the 1st place. ![]() |

read that but replace 400 with 300 start with going stage 2 up/down pipes + tune get used to that. there's no way in hell that's gonna net you 300 at the wheels then upgrade to an 18g or comparably sized turbo 16g is not going to get you there and most vf series turbos aren't gonna get you there either. injectors, fuel pump and intercooler |

IMO you should for now put your stock air box and diverter valve back on and go with something like a stage 2 cobb ap setup. Then once you learn more you can start considering turbo and fuel system setups. I guarantee you your car will perform better with youR exhaust and an OTS map then it does now with. T BE, intake, and bov.

I'm making about 290 whp on a dyno dynameter (XS Engineering).
I would say go with an evoIII 16g turbo, walbro fuel pump and modified stock injectors (if you have a tuner near you familiar with Subaru's they should know how to properly do this). Also suggest a bigger intercooler, catless up pipe & downpipe. Then your tuner can tune your ECU with one software or another to make sure it runs at optimum. The readings you get will depend on your car and the dyno, but that should put you there. |

Ok. After running Stage 2 for a few months, I upgraded. Setup is Walbro pump, 07 STI injectors, VF43 turbo, Large TMIC, Cobb catless DP, Invidia 3" exhaust and Cobb access-port for tuning. Next will be the header/up pipe....

Well then you're an ass. I bought my '02 off a lot with an AEM CAI and a Blitz BOV. I wasn't thrilled about it, but you know what? They're FINE and I didn't pay anything for them.
To the OP: You're looking at spending about $8000 (for NEW parts, much less if used) to get to 300whp out of the 2.0. At a minimum you need: Larger intercooler, either front mount or top mount 16g or 18g turbo or equivalent size. 18g would be easier to make the power, but laggier. 275lph+ fuel pump STi or larger injectors Colder plugs Up pipe Downpipe Catback To help things along a little, you can also (optionally) get your stock headers polished/ported with a crosspipe or get aftermarket headers. Your turbo inlet can also be swapped for something that would increase velocity to the turbo. The route that I'm taking on my upgrade path is to start with the smallish bolt-on stuff that acts as supporting mods for big stuff. Then I can do the big stuff later at minimal momentary cash outlay. Lets face it, a better turbo is $1500-$1900, but all the stuff you need to run it safely will run you two times that. |

^I agree. I will say get a tune on the car to make it a little happier (yes more power) and find a stock recirc valve. Then maybe focus a little on suspension and just driving the car. Once you feel you're ready for more jam then 300whp is certainly easily obtainable. I personally recommend going with a 18G or maybe a 20G either with an 8cm^2 exhaust housing. My 02 WRX made 310whp and 285wtq (3700rpm) on a dynojet, 93oct and about 20psi boost with a Blouch 18g 8cm^2.
I miss that car. Sold it to a friend and he blew the tranny in 3 months. It lasted me 130k miles (10k @310whp, the rest at 230ish) So that brings me to my next point. The 5 speed will last as long as you shift well and dont launch the crap out of it. But once you get to these power levels you really are just on borrowed time. Save for a 6speed swap. |

I hate to come across as a jerk, but you sound like you have a ton of reading to do. Assembling an arbitrary group of parts that will make X horsepower without knowing the what, when, where and why behind those selections is a bad way to go about it. You're better off spending the next six months learning and saving your money then going off and buying a bunch of stuff because, "some dude on some forum on some part of the internet told me this would be awesome". |

Well it sounds like you're closer to your goal, but the up pipe was probably the first thing you should have upgraded if you're running a bigger turbo and increasing boost levels. |

[quote=CKxx;31020256]You still haven't said if you want 300 CRANK hp, or 300 WHEEL hp.
![]() No, STi pinks are not "plug and play." FOR 300 WHEEL HP (easy 300): Catless up-pipe, catless turbo-back exhaust, EVO316G, 650cc injectors, STi (or larger) TMIC, Walbro pump, ECU tune. ^ this im running this setup with a blouch evo III big 16g dw 780cc inj precision front mount, cobb intake, and tial 38mm ewg and made 330whp at 20psi. this will cost you quite a bit to get to this, a protune alone on a dyno run about $450. good luck |

VF39 is not a 300whp turbo on the 2.0, even on the most forgiving of dynos.

Nice....! This thread is still going. I've been researching, reading a bunch and getting headaches from reading so much. Lol. I thank and appreciate everyones opinion and Nasioc site for educating me. Well it's been 8 months since I started this thread. Since then I upgraded to this:
-Cobb Downpipe, Cobb Access port, K&N Cold Air intake, 3" Invidia exhaust system -Walbro Fuel Pump -Agency Front and Rear Sway Bar Links -Perrin Front Sway Bar 22mm -Perrin Rear Sway Bar Kit 25mm -Perrin Rear SLS -Perrin Oil Catch Can -H Brace -Front strut bar and Rear strut bar *Just bought last week**Waiting to install* -VF43 turbo, 07 Sti injectors, Large Sti TMIC, silicone turbo inlet I have a friend that'll tune for less than $450. Think it'll turn out fine. 300whp or not, this is what'll I'll stay with. Next is up pipes, mounts, and somehow take weight off car. Ideas?? :-B |

OP, whats your obsession with 300awhp…have you ever driven anything with that much power? Trust me cobb stage two and suspension mods are plenty for both the street and the occasional track day. Last edited by '02 Subaru Rex; 03-28-2011 at 11:36 AM. |

Cobb Stage 1= Completely stock WRX, Accessport stage 1 flash. Cobb Stage 2= WRX with turbo-back exhaust, Accessport stage 2 flash. With the mods you have right now(how your car is exactly this second) you would benefit most from a dyno tune. Also, you don't need a BOV. The factory BPV is good and will hold boost until about 22psi. EDIT I saw the update that you already went stage 2 and beyond. Good luck w/ the car. Last edited by gc822; 03-27-2011 at 07:00 PM. |
