![]() The EBCS Pro Series 3-Port Electronic Boost Control Solenoid is designed to control todays high performance wastgates with it's ultra fast response and bomb proof design. The PERRIN EBCS™ was the first and original aftermarket boost control solenoid, and now we have taken it one step further with the EBCS Pro™! The EBCS Pro™ is now made from higher quality materials (no plastic) includes improved fittings (again no plastic), rated to 250F (compared to just 150F) and even faster response time(twice as fast). We have explained why it's better than the old one, now why do you need this at all? Simple! Better boost control from your turbocharged engine! The PERRIN EBCS Pro™ functions very different than the OEM solenoid. You will get faster boost response (more power down low), and the ability to hold more boost at higher RPM's. Who wouldn't want more boost, more power, and better response!? Since the EBCS Pro™ works differently than stock, it does require ECU re-tuning. Retail clients can contact us directly for most popular Subaru and Mitsubishi mapping needs. But, if you are a professional tuner, we provide a growing number of car specific tech tips to help get your own maps dialed so everyone can benefit from the PERRIN EBCS Pro™! ![]() EBCS Pro Installed On Various Vehicles ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Got Questions? what kind of ecu-tune this this require. I have an access port. are there maps available for this mod? or are there pre-existing maps that work in conjuction with this mod i.e. intake/catback map.

Thanks for your question! To take advantage of this part, you will need a custom protune. This can be done at any shop that has a dyno and can make tunes for the AccessPORT. There aren't any maps available through email at this time for the new PERRIN EBCS Pro. If you have any more questions, let us know, thanks!

Just want to give props to Perrin on taking these EBCS's to another level and designing changes for real world use.
I recently started tunning my JDM STI ver 8 longblock swap. I have full intake and exhaust mods and the JDM Twinscroll(VF37) was spiking like crazy. Stock Subaru Twinscrolls have a rep of spiking after you open things up exhaust and intake wise. My tuner suggested we upgrade the boost control or go MBC( ). I had spotted this thread months before and liked what I read. So I ordered one through Import Image, and a few weeks later I installed it and started tuning again. Before I was trying to hit 20-22psi and it would spike 25+ to the point of fuel cut. Scary on a 5000 dollar new setup. After the Perrin, my tuner sent me a new map with lower duty cycles etc. Within a few revisions we were Hitting full boost 20-21 psi by 3400 rpm(AVCS FTW) and now no more spike nice and smooth. I may have some logs I can dig up showing the difference. Install was easy, only my unit came with the universal mount and not the one that is 02-03WRX specific. But I still was able to mount it in the stock location with the universal bracket so no big deal there. One thing that concerned me was that the metal solenoid started to spin in the plastic case when tightening the nipples in. It did not seem to effect the final outcome in any way. Another thing I want to mention is that the instructions state you are not to block the exhaust port on the solenoid in any way, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to plumb the port like stock is back into the intake inlet and it seems to work perfect. It is a little louder in cold weather(kinda clicks), but that may be from the mount or just the price you pay for better boost control. All in all great product!! Fast interrupt is the way to go, car pulls like a champ and boost lands where you want it to.\ Buy the Perrin, I stand behind it.. |

Thanks for the review! Did you purchase the 02-04 specific EBCS? If you did, I can send out the bracket if you want it.
It is normal for the top part of the EBCS to rotate, and it doesn't affect performance in anyway. You can install it the way you did, and it won't affect anything. We don't mention it in the instructions to keep the install simple. The clicking you're hearing is normal, that means it's working! Thanks again! |

I just bought a EBCS Pro to install prior to a tuning session in a week.
I would like to install the part prior to the session to save some money and to learn a bit about my car. Should I plumb it for the internal wastegate/Fast response and not drive the car hard or should I plumb it for slow response? What is the best method for tuning purposes? I too received an universal bracket...is there a way I can get an 02-04 WRX bracket? Thanks in advance. |

Forced,
If you are going to drive temporarily with the EBCS on a tune for the stock boost controller, set up the EBCS in the "slow response" mode. Driving the car in the "fast response" mode will make the car overboost. Then when you do the tune, install it in the "fast response" mode. Did you order the 02-04 EBCS and get receive the universal bracket? PM me your name, if you purchased it from us, I can look into it. |

Thanks Chris.
I bought mine from MAC Motorsports as a universal kit, hence the universal bracket ![]() EDIT: I am missing the two 8-32 SS screws though. I got two extra #10 SS flat washers instead. EDIT2: PERRIN_Chris sent me the missing screws, no questions asked. Great customer service! Last edited by forced4; 07-15-2011 at 01:59 AM. |

When i was setting up the appt to get my Car tuned the guys at Cobb asked me if I had any form of boost control. I told them I had the Perrin ECBS and was told I made a Good Choice and that it is one of the best out there. My dyno graph shows it rock steady 20PSI. It is easy to install, took maybe 15 minutes and it looks good too! also they have a cover for it I saw in the show room that makes it look bad-ass. this ECBS allowed me to make 350whp with Bolt ons! and I have no worries about boost creep
