I am a complete newb to Subarus, but I was under the impression that, especially the old iron blocks, were capable of really high HP levels (IE 700 plus whp).
I saw one list on this forum but the most powerful cars were in the 400 range. 400 would make for a very fun car and an excellent track weapon, but were are the high hp monsters? Thank you |

Why is it not listed in the official hp ranking?

Your question is unclear. Why is what not listed? What do you mean when you say "official hp ranking?" Are you talking about the official road dyno list thread? Try and be more specific when asking questions so we can provide a thorough answer.

That list is for enthusiasts who have done a road dyno log. A road dyno is a log of a WOT run in a specific gear on the road and it's put into a spreadsheet to calculate horsepower. The reason you don't see these plots in that thread is because they went to a chassis dyno.

Yes, I data log my GT2 often.....the bottom line is what kind of power are these cars putting down?
I am not interested in semantics or argumentation, just hp numbers. Actually, hp levels are less accurate than 60-130 #'s for really measuring performance, but for now I am interested in how much power these cars are putting down. For example if you asked me what P cars are putting down on stock blocks nowadays, I would respond "in excess of 750 rwhp with no blown engines." |

I can't say that I'm %100 sure, but I have seen/heard/read that there are EJ motors out there that are putting out more than 750 hp. |

I would say, cautiously, 400 whp is the threshold of bad things on stock internals. Some model years are more tolerable than others.

Nobody is getting sensitive. All I'm doing is trying to point out the importance of your point made. If you got a problem with that, then I don't know what to tell you.
