no he actually dose not offer pnp at all what so ever. the only option he did offer was ceramic coating. atleast that is what he told me when i called him a few weeks back to see.

^^^correct, no porting offered
Wolf was refering to the H/HL/TE04 turbin wheels, not porting. Blouch charges extra for these wheels and machining, were was PT offered your choice for the same price. ~Ryan |

Then if this is the case I would want to port the wastegate port and also do compressor outlet and turbine inlet porting if your using the stock suby td04 housings with the turbine wheel upgrade. |

Porting the turbine inlet and compressor outlet should be of some benefit, but I would caution against porting the wastegate. Doing so would likely increase the boost taper seen by rcodea in the upper range (currently from 21 psi peak to 16 @ 6600 rpm with MBC). To maintain higher boost in the upper range, it'll be necessary to increase the EBCS WG duty cycle to close down the WG as rpm increases above 5000 rpm. Porting the WG would have the opposite effect and possibly make it more difficult to maintain higher boost in the upper range.
The exhaust housing outlet diameter was enlarged by PT to accommodate the larger H wheel. This resulted in an outlet area increase of ~ 15%, and should be enough to accomodate the higher flow capability of the 19T compressor wheel. Porting the WG may offer some benefit in the mid range where there is an excess of exhaust manifold pressure (relative to that required to achieve target boost), but for reasons stated above, will be a trade-off that may increase midrange performance at the expense of top-end. |

well, no time for porting, maybe another day.
got it on, though it took me 2hrs to get one of the turbine-to-uppipe nuts off...actually stripped the stud and had to re-tap it. maybe when I have some time, I’ll pull the turbo, and make all the necessary portings to help it breath, and replace the stud. I did make note though, the uppipe gasket is much larger in diameter of the uppipe or turbin inlet. not sure if this is normal, or if this is just a larger-than-stock gasket. I need to get an air-oil separator on this car. I am not a subaru guru, but there was a bit of oil film on the turbo inlet when I took the stock td04 off yesterday. It seems to be much worse than any other time I have had the turbo off. Once I get that done, I’ll clean the whole system using the new SeaFoam spray. great stuff. ~Ryan |

Obviously you guys have heard of the TD04HLA-19T? The twinscroll version of the TD04 from JDM Gen 4 Legacy? Came on the manual transmission cars only.
I've just installed it all on my EJ205 Forester GT, goes pretty well but I'm yet to see what real numbers it can pull. First tune got 212whp & 331nm at 16psi. Was aiming for 18psi but had to wind it back due to issues with the wastegate, need an upgraded actuator basically. Graphs are in my gallery thread. I'm guessing this turbo is basically a single scroll version of mine?? Can't really find much info on the TD04HLA-19T. |

heres his twinscroll td04 link so everyone doesnt have to search
i'd crap myself if i spent money on a twinscroll kit and made 212whp......and thats 212whp on a dynapack none the less.....and hit full boost by 3800rpm. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2012457 |

Being from Australia, he probably didn't spend the kind of money retrofitting for twin scroll that we have to. Remember, they get JDM models that are already equipped twinscroll.

yeah that seems late on the power. He did say he needed a upgraded actuator. if it opens at will, wouldn't you see weird boost? i have no idea how a twinscroll is affected by that but i would like to see it after its fixed.
is the pre-turbo exhaust all leak free? |

I had to do all the sump, headers, up pipe, downpipe, bracket, oil & coolant lines. Wasn't easy.
That is the smoothest they could get the lines, he did a few 18psi runs but it looked like a heart monitor going right up & down. Waste gate is halfway between cracked & not cracked, it noticeably fluctuates at higher rpm too. Afaik there isn't any exhaust leaks but they would have picked it up. I'm also only using a WRX TMIC which I'm pretty sure is holding the flow back a little. I'll eventually wrap the headers & have to make a custom heatsheild for the turbo to keep the hot side hot. |

^^ I just got my replacement turbo... I'm now thinking that USPS messed up the first one.. The box is destroyed when I got it an there was some shaft play when I first received it.. This version the shaft play is almost non existant and the box and packaging was much better..
Anyhow.. the turbos going on this weekend.. I feel like a cripple driving my car with no boost... minivans have been cutting me off and giving me attitude for accelerating too slow... |

^nice. Glad its rebuilt and all.
I actually haven't driven my car at all since the first failure, but have been driving my Ford Explorer instead. I'm REALLY craving some decent acceleration, but I didn't want to put back in either of my stock turbos, since one is bad, and the other has been sitting for so long. I did discover that a 190 hp V6 Explorer CAN do a burnout, albeit short and not that exciting ![]() |

i am smoking again...not nearly as bad yet though...and i am not sure its the turbo...may be the engine...need to get a catch can to eliminate the possibilities....
reason i think this may help is because of the massive amount of blow by i have noted since owning the car. any time i take the intercooler off, there is a small amount of oil in the 'hump' tube between the intercooler and throttle body. i have found this any time i take the intercooler off, no matter what turbo i have, or condition of that turbo. the smoking started today, coming home from work. it has not smoked since getting this turbo on this past Saturday. i have done freeway, city, agressive driving, etc. I am at the point of swapping the wastgate actuator and adjusting it to the needed 15psi. i was planning on putting the MBC on it tonight and start making adjustments and logs to get to my goal of 20psi through redline. valve stems have never been an issue, and remember, the leak check showed no leaks at all. ~Ryan Last edited by rcodea; 06-29-2010 at 10:17 PM. Does it just smoke visibly at idle? (Decel, accel, etc?) The thing is, a catch can is only going to solve problems of oil vapor getting through the crankcase/valve cover breather vents and into the inlet. If its coming through valve stems, or burning oil, etc, then a catch-can wouldn't help anyway. |

stems, burning oil, rings, etc would not progress like this...not be this drastic of a change. a catch can will help me troubleshoot to make sure its not massive blowby ~Ryan |

i need to seriously think about how/why my car is killing so many turbos...something cant be right...doesnt smoke with the stock td04 i have...so the best thing i can do is let it get worse, then change to the stock td04 and see what happens.
