Default Forester/WRX EJ251 to EJ255 swap: NA/Turbo Steering Rack and Cromember Differencesss

So, I ran searches but couldn't come up with a clear answer.

I'm currently swapping an '05 2.5L DOHC Turbo with AVCS into my non-turbo Forester.

I swapped in an 04 STI crossmember yesterday. I went back today and attempted to bolt up the steering rack and it appears that it does not fit.

I should have researched it better, but I was under the impression that I did not have to swap the steering rack. It makes sense that the lines may be blocked by the extra dip for the up-pipe, but I was not made aware of this before I started!

I can get another one, but I was looking foward to getting the new engine in this weekend and I HATE waiting for parts!!

Advice to want-to-be swappers: This is just another testament to acquiring a WHOLE car if you're going to perform a good, complete, and thorough swap. I cant tell you how much time I have wasted looking for parts, when I could have just had everything together, and confirmed compatible.

Default

its the sti crossmember not the rack and i would wager its not an 04 but a 05+ which changed the shape of the mounts

.. a wrx crossmember should work
