Default 2002 wrx 2.5FXT+18G+6mt..... borked :(

acts like a poor running carbed car at partial throttle and low gears.

Doesn't make "proper" boost in 1-2 gear (5-6psi in 1st 9-10psi in 2nd, 20-22psi in 3-4).

Stumbles at slow downs, stalls at times.

Some small backfires when spirited accell on upshifts.

Boost builds very slow, in any gear.

A boost leak test was done... no leak.

Car just feels way under powered...

2.5FXT engine 30K milesish
jdm 6mt 30K miles
18g 8cm
710cc injectors,
255lph pump
borla header
acces port tuned on 5mt 284awhp (stock wrx is 150awhp)
FMIC
TBE

I picked up the car about a month ago... looking for help, we have no Subaru shops in SE MI... so I m looking here for da helps.... save me from selling this car and going to another brand..

hey imo you first need to do a compression and leak down test to make your you are dealing with a good motor, secondly if there is no boost leak i would try to get the car retuned not sure what state you in but even if i had to drive out of state to get that **** tuned i would get that done because when all is said and done there is no better feeling than when your car is well tuned and running right.I am running the fp18G with methonal etc and my car is running like a beast just tuned two weeks ago made 383 whp and 373 tq.good luck.

I know he's not taking any more work in but have you tried to get ahold of jan at speed industry? He's moving but as far as i know his guys (angel and tony) are staying here. They are in Troy. They tuned my car and I have nothing but good to say.

Yea, the car was tuned at SI by Tony, and they are not taking any more work.

The car was checked at SI and had good compression, though I guess it could have popped... shrug.

I should have bought a domestic... at least we have shops for those in the D

Are you getting any CEL? Have you checked all of your grounds? Wouldn't necessarily explain the underpowered but maybe the random death of motor. Does it idle?

Will

Idle is solid, it acts like a car might if its running an open BPV, and not tuned for it.... when you push the clutch in and the revs should come down and settle at idle, but have a hard time finding it, they go to low and it stalls.

No CELS.

IACV?

The lack of boost in 1-2 sounds like a funky DBW tune with gear dependent boost targets. But isn't.

You checked for boost leaks, what about vacuum leaks? Sometimes leaks can be funky.....
