The ideal scenario would be if I could get people to pay me to do that on THEIR cars instead. Unfortunately no current time for that, but once I do get time and a garage I'll get started again. I already have laid out what I would like to do. ![]() Ben

7"? That's more than I would have expected. They barely hang below the x-member. Skidplate definitely makes good sense, a nice solid one (although I would incorporate some slotting to vent heat. Those nice hunks of superheated cast iron next to your oil pan...). I'm wondering how that would work for the SVX, I'm a bit shorter on ground clearance (and will only be losing more). It definitely makes for a very efficient layout and easy exhaust routing though.

Here is my custom setup. The muffler is a Twin Tip vibrant muffler with a single 4" inlet and dual 3" outlets. The tubing is 4" 304 Stainless. Header and uppipe is Full Race Ver 1 with twin Tial 44mm wastegates. The turbo is a GT42R.

Throwing my hat in the ring here. This is my 2nd version of a custom EJ22 singleport header. This one is based on the Cobb/Brullen/OBX equal length header for the NA EJ25's. Nobody makes one for the singleport, so I made my own.
On the jig, tacking things up. Initial fitment showed that I put a reference point in the wrong spot on the jig, so my 45* tube had to be rerouted to go straight back and over toward the collector before merging in. The finished piece ended up like this. Primaries are 1.8" ID 304SS collected into a 2.25"ID section. Primaries seem large because they're each handling 2 cylinders right from the head. Runner lengths are within 0.5" of being equal at about 44" long. Butt dyno says this one is at least as good as the MRT style longtube header I made a couple years ago, both of which are head and shoulders better than the OEM manifold. Might as well show my 1st attempt at custom header fabrication. Complete with fluxcore welded 304SS!!! It never broke on me, which is alot more than I can say for the couple Borlas I've had through the years.... Jay Storm Last edited by Storm; 06-14-2010 at 06:55 AM. |

Going to make a mid pipe for my 07i with a Stromung axel back. I will be adding a resonator. Think a 5" round 14'' length will work? There is also a 4'' round 18'' long. Either way I don't want to be super loud for DD.

anyone know what the DB levels are on the vibrant performance 1153 muffler compared to the stock sti exhaust? Ive got a CSS turbo back right now, and it performs great...but its a bit too loud. I'm looking to fab up something quieter than the css but still louder than stock. Something around borla hush terrtory. The vibrant muffler is the only one Ive found so far that seems to be what I want. If anyone else has any suggestions im open to those too...
