Hey guys, just changed out my tgv gaskets, and intake manifold gaskets and now I put the manifold back on. It's making a WIERD clicking noise it sounds like its traveling along the manifold. I highly doubt theres a bolt inside the manifold because it would have bent the valve by now.. the throttle body is clean, tmic is clean.. turbo manifold was cleaned. Before I changed the manifold, I made sure to tape all the open holes shut.
Here's the noise, sorry if I was talking too much just aggrovated with the damn car. Note: I have reason to believe that I have routed the vacuum lines wrong, can someone give me a diagram? The blow off valve seems to be blowing off into my intake? I'm not sure.. but the BOV wasn't going off. (the video might show it's unhooked, but it wasn't working still) Symptoms: Bad idle, jumps from 800, 300, 1500, 2000 and etc. If I suddenly rev the engine around 5k and let off the gas, it will just shut off. There's fuel and stuff too, there are two hoses that aren't connected and they are on the throttle body, can anyone tell me where those would go? Note: I also posted this in the Factory 2.0 section but I think I would find better help here. UPDATE 10/6/2010: So I discovered that whenever I plug the MAF in it sounds like the throttle body clicks? I think it's the butterfly valve shuttering or something I'm not even sure. The idle stays stable when the MAF is disconnected, but drops and dies when i plug it back in. I tried cleaning it, no go.

unplug the maf and see if it idles fine
you probably have a leak somewhere around the intake manifold |

A leak in the manifold would cause that clicking noise? Where would I spray brake cleaner? I don't have the throttle body hoses hooked up to anything because I do not know where they go.. I tried to read the manual but it doesn't say anything besides "engine coolant hose" wtf? lol.

Yes the engine coolant is running through the throttle body to keep it warm and to prevent it from sticking open when it's freezing outside. I do not have those problems here in Taiwan and thus I remove those lines and connect them together so coolant just goes through. !! DO NOT TRY THIS IN AN AREA WITH FROST !! You won't be the first to find yourself going WOT and keeping WOT even when you jump off the throttle!!
The brake cleaner is to find WHERE it leaks. When the brake cleaner is sucked up through the leak the engine will respond with rising revs. Cheers, Jasper Kopinga CS Racing Taiwan. |

Yeah, I want to do things properly, can anyone shoot me a picture to how the lines go into the throttle body?

It looks like your Y pipe that the factory head breathers are supposed to be connected to are left open. It's that long pipe with 3 openings attached to your IC. Unless this is intentionally left this way it's likely your problem.

I don't believe it's the breather hoses that are causing the problems, they are hooked together as a T but I will try to hook them back up to the intercooler. I highly doubt it will fix the problem though, the boost solenoid also isn't hooked up (hose-wise)

So the MAF sensor is dirty and needs to be cleaned or is it faulty? I connected the maf sensor back up and it shut right off! |

You didn't stick anything in there did you? There are tiny resisters in the maf sensor that break very very easy

I didn't stick or do anything to the MAF sensor besides spray it with brake cleaner. Althoooough, I did drop it as I was pulling out because it was pissing me off (this was right now trying to clean it). It fell right off the radiator support so that's what about 3 feet? The minute I plug the MAF sensor it started clicking all over the engine again, wierd huh.

bumpity bump bump it idled normal and better once I plugged the bov back in, I don't believe I have anymore vacuum leaks.. but the maf was clicking for a bit, maybe it's the throttle body just clicking flying open? i'm not even sure.. but I have also reason to believe the throttle body cable has a toll in this. the previous owner had it just dangling there so that also might be causing the crazy jumping.
