Yup, they are nice and light.

The fitment on the TXS kit is good, but not great. It could be much better and I plan to modify some of the pipes for better fitment in the future.

Yeah I remember my SSAC kit fit kind of funny. Supposedly the TXS kit has the same problems. I always had issues with the u shaped pipes that connect the endtank of the core to the main pipes.

It's a bit of a surprise. Though most of the San Tan crew knows.
I should have some pictures in a week or two. Stay tuned. I'm hoping it will look sweet and not played out.

Also, I visited B&B machine shop today. He was confident the control arms can be reworked with no issues. The brembo with the bad bleeder is another story. He told me to keep my fingers crossed, but he felt good about it. I hope he's right. He won't be able to get to it for about a week. :bites nails:

Good to hear this. I've got my fingers crossed that the shop can fix the existing hole with the threaded insert, but if not, welding will be my next try.

The Brembo calipers are aluminum and the bleed screws are steel. The mounting bolts are steel too. The problem becomes that the two metals are too dissimilar and galvanic corrosion tends to occur quickly, especially in salty/wet climates. This nearly welds the two metals together and it's very hard to over come. Most of the time, the steel bolt will be removed and take much of the aluminum threads with it. In these situations, a good anti-seize is advisable, but it does not look like Brembo or Subaru used any.

This is also coupled with two other factors: 1) Bleed screws have a hole in the center and tend to collapse inward and fail easier than other bolts. 2) The caliper mounting bolt torque was specified wrong in the first edition 2004 and 2005 STi manuals and as such many people/shops have grossly over torques the bolts. This galls the aluminum threads and they tend to pull out with the bolt the next time you remove them.

Ok, I picked up some goodies from the dealership tonight. Mostly Group-N bushings and some other random bits like seals and clips and bolts.

Here are some of the bushings/mounts I've collected.

Starting from the left and moving right and down we have:
Group-N Outer Lateral Link Bushings
Group-N Trailing Arm Forward Bushings
Kartboy Rear Diff Outrigger Bushings (Race)
TiC Subaru Rear Diff Mount Bushings (Race)
Group-N Inner Front Lateral Link Bushings
Group-N Trailing Arm Rear Bushings
Kartboy Pitchstop Mount
Group-N Inner Rear Lateral Link Bushings
PolyPro Steering Rack Bushings
Group-N Engine Mounts

I also got new knuckles for the front hubs. What's strange as hell is that one is painted gloss black and the other is painted flat black.

I got the day to work on the wagon. I cleaned a ton of dirt off the undercarriage and then put her in the garage and removed everything from the chassis besides the transmission and motor.

Here is the silly WRX steering linkage rubber isolating piece. This is supposed to cut down on vibration and noise in the steering, but it also numbs the feel of the wheel. The STi does not have this part; it is simple a straight shaft.

I've got the steering rack all cleared up so that I can install the new racj bushings along with power steering lines.

Front suspension removed. The tie-rod ends were removed as well so for the Whiteline Roll Center kit parts. I also found that after only ~80miles on these ball joints, both the tie-rod ends and the control arm to hub ball joints were shot. I mean I could pull on them and feel them click and move around! I'm certain this was contributing to loose steering feel and rattles on bumps. If you have an impreza with over 80K on it, I would definitely check these joints and plan on replacing them.

A little dirt still needs to be removed and then I will be applying the undercarriage paint.

Not very exciting pictures, but progress is being made for sure.

I've got one and that's what I used. The dirt that's still on there was covered by the struts and springs and other suspension components. I'm going to hit her once more tonight now that all that stuff is off of there.
