i have 18x9 +40 on the same car. My guess is your 18x8.5 +30 with 3mm spacers will look very similar. Here's a photo to reference the stock height clearance and how far the wheels are sunken into the fenders.

So if you're lowered, you'll look great.

OLD pics.

only if he went with the 18x10 +38mm's. the 18x8.5 +30mm doesn't require a spacer.

The 18x8.5 +30mm will still require work (Even with a 245/40/18), be ready to roll the rear fenders.

the 18x10s are a bit tougher to fit but they are possible to fit on the stock control arms if you have another form of rear camber adjustment.

I just mentioned the 18x10s because you said "should I have gone wider?"

He shouldn't need to run spacers on that wheel. the 18x8.5 +30mm is the EVO fitment so it'll clear the brembos on the STi.

His setup will poke more than your 9" +40mm does (the wheel anyway).

Honestly, 18x10 is a very big wheel unless you're pushing some big power IMO. I thing 17x9 is the perfect size. I am running 17x8 on my 07 wtx and wished I had gone with 17x9. But with that being said, I can still fit 245/40s on them with no modding to the fenders. So I'm pretty happy with that. Saving weight and adding tire FTW!

I have 18x9 +29 Advans right now so I'm already rolled. I'm going to the RPF1's because the Advans are just too flashy for me. I love matte finish and I love the RPF1's so I think these will be a good set up. I had doubts about the width but I think .5 of an inch will not be noticable. Hell, if I don't like these I can use these for track wheels and get some NT03's.

Found this helpful thread for people considering RPF1's. Post #20 for those unsure about offset/widths on RPF1's and clearing Brembos.

JDM STI v8 take-off strut/coils

In future I would have liked to have gone with 9.5x17 RPF1's for track ..but my damned hubs are too small!

Not sure this counts since it's not on the car...I bought these for potentially putting them on a 2009-2010 Civic Si (FA5 sedan model). But after seeing the new Sti sedan (2011)...I'm struggling between the si and the Sti now.

Anyway, I picked these up here in Japan for 500! They look new and usually run 2000 for a set like these. They're 18x8.5 with 44 offset

My S13 with 18x10.5 15mm (25mm spacer in rear, 3mm spacer in front) Tires are 265/35/18 90% of the time however sometimes this does very

Can't say enough about the RPF1 wheels, i have seen these go through HELL without damage on my car and many others. Unbelievably LIGHT and STRONG wheels, if you are considering them i would say DO IT. Not much personal experience with some of the other racing series enkei wheels but i would assume they are great, i'm sure other owners would agree.
