It is less than 1 year old So it still might carry the manufacture's warranty. I do not know if you are suppose to register it but I (as the first user) have not. I can not guarantee that this product is still covered under the manufacture. I bought this brand new and has been working just fine. As you can see in the pictures, I just upgraded to the Escort 9500i. Yes this new one is slightly better in the sense it has Red light camera detection as well as an integrated GPS system in it.
