My buddy had a Thule one that I put the Subaru lettering on for him. looks pretty good. Its a big one, at least the 44in maybe the 52in. It reached all the way out to the ends of the load bars. And the curved ends came around the subie bars nicely.

I held it on with 4 of these babys from home depot. Turned out very clean and sturdy.

Had three bike racks on it eventually.

ive been looking at a lot of pictures trying to figure out weather i want to buy a yakima or thule setup for my 07 wrx.. i realized there are a lot of pics on here that are of just the base racks without the attachments.. do people normally take the attachments off when they arent using the racks? or do they just take them off for the pics they post?

an example is the pic below..

i remove my rack when i'm not using it.

no point spending the time to remove the snowboard carrier, then putting it back on. you're still seeing a decrease in gas mileage regardless with the roofrack on!

and to add-

here's a pic that someone took when they saw me on opening day

yeah.. the ride height defeats the purpose i know. too lazy.

I take everything off when I'm not using the rack. It's a pain to set up the first time but once everything is set, putting the rack on or taking it off takes just a couple of minutes. Plus after a long time dirt gets caught under the foot pads and eventually leads to small micro scratches in the paint (I discovered this the hard way). Plus the added bonus of minimally better mpgs and my wing will actually get airflow is nice (yes, I actually do feel a difference, IByourwingismustmarketinganddoesn'treallywork, noit 'snot, yesitis, notit'snot). My attachments come off too since I tend to switch it around depending on what I'm doing that day. Love the versatility of the rack!

I have an 07 impreza im looking to put a rack on it for this winter because i do alot of snowboarding and dont want to put my wet board inside the car.
i have a yakima rack on a different car that i can usebut have a few questions.
1) the rack i have mounts in between the roof frame and the doorframe, for those of you with the yakima racks does the having the bracket between the window glass and roof frame IE- leaking or glass damage?
2) what size cross bars fit the flushest on the 07s? i currently have oversized bars to hold 2 kayaks but they stick out too far and everyone hits their heads on it when getting out so i am going to get new ones.

Anyone happen to know the weight limit for the stock roof racks? The actual rails are 'Elf' but I believe they are stock as well. I've searched throughout the owner's manual and the only info I can find is how to install the rails. Nothing about weight limit.

i was in a store today looking at their snowboarding gear and somehow talked myself into buying a roof rack for my 07 wrx.. ive wanted one since i bought the car last year so i would have a place to mount my snowboards, but i was trying to find one used..

anyway, the guy in the store talked me into the thule over the yakima because he said it is a better fitting rack for the car and a more solid set up..

MY QUESTION IS: is the thule setup larger and more bulky than the yakima setup? when buying brand new, are there any sites that people found are cheaper than others because if so ill return the one i just bought..

also, does anyone have close up pics of the mounting footpads that are on their 07.. when i went in the store i thought i was going to buy the yakima setup because overall it seems to look better and smaller, but im curious if the base racks are basically the same size..

that looks sweet and love the bike, and same car as me too.

HOWEVER, i would check the measurements of the thule bars because where thule recommends the bars sit on the vehicle is too llow the load bars to sit level for mounting accessories.

just some advise. i have a thule setup as well and mine are alot closer together and been on for almost a year and frequently have had all four of my big mouth carriers full.

Honestly, i didnt even buy the rack.

i found it in my uncles basement and it just happened to fit on my car with no instructions or anything.
It is certainly an older model of Thule rack along with the 555 fairing and the feet sit really low to the roof of the car (thats why i had such a hard time mounting the fairing)
