Default Clutch pedal vibration

Does anybody else feel a vibration as they put the clutch in?

I now get a vibration through the clutch pedal as I start to let the clutch over the first 1/4" of pedal travel. Then the vibration disappears as I approach the stick point. It doesn't matter if the clutch is cold or warm.

I also have the typical cold clutch shudder problem, but this pedal vibration is completely different. This is a new problem after 20,000 km. First clutch. No serious launching. Anybody else notice this ever? Any suggestions what it could be?

Dave.

(maybe I will opt for a clutch replacement)

Default clutch vibration

Yeah its ****ed get it fixed before it breaks.

The fingers are working their way out of the steel clip that holds them in the middle, ive had this happen (albeit because of abuse)
Eventually the bearing will become free from the clutch and you will have no clutch at all.
If its still under warranty get em to fix it under warranty it's a manufacturing fault.

Thanks for the reply, Player.

Is it possible for this vibration problem to be intermittent?

This morning, it was pretty bad. However, the problem disappeared this evening. I'm not sure what's happening, but there is significant risk of looking like a knob at the dealership if I complain.

mmm, its funny that up till this day I still have that vibrating feel & sound from my stock clutch (16,000 miles). I took it to the dealer 3 times and yet they said it is normal for subarus!!!
I checked also at an independant subaru mechanic shop, they said the same thing too. so I suppose I will leave it as is until I decide for an upgrade.

Default I just had my clutch replaced due to...

clutch shrudder problem....I just got it replaced 100 miles ago and my original clutch did not do this "vibrating" as you're letting it out.

They replaced the entire clutch assembly (flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, etc.)...

I'm so pissed cause the pedal feel is sooooo soft and my pedal has already gotten stuck to the floor once when trying to shift.

So I will be taking it tommorow morning.

Hi all,

this pedal vibration is still grinding away. I haven't gotten it fixed yet because a delay this and scheduling conflict that . . . bah! It's scheduled for tommorrow.

Anyway, this is not the cold clutch shudder problem or the vibration under deceleration problems, both of which I feel priviledged to have. I just wanted to clarify that in case somebody looks back on this thread for similar problems.

I'm getting this too. I have about 11k miles and every time I press in the clutch or just before engagemnt, it vibrates. It feels like the clutch is worn completely and the riviets are running against the flywheel. At 11k miles I HIGHLY doubt this is the case. Also, I can hear a squeak in the pedal as well. I'm suspecting the damn throw-out bearing. This is not the clutch shudder problem, which I've also has from time to time but not lately.

Default i'm wondering if it's the bearing sleeve

on the throw out bearing slowly grinding away the shaft.

My friends' legacy gt was doing the same thing after a dumbass mechanic at subaru put a stock clutch back in and his clutch wearng out prematurely at 11k miles old.

when he changed his own clutch out for a ACT, he looked at the sleeve and indeed it was... The sleeve was wearing out more on the top than on the bottom, thus pushing the throw out bearing downward on the shaft.

Makes sense?

Ugh, I'm bringing my car in. I've been convincing myself for two weeks now that this is all in my head. Now I'm not so sure.

I've got 14,000 miles on my clutch. No mods. It started vibrating after I took it to the dealership (~13,000 mi) so they could evaluate my claims about clutch shudder and deceleration noise. They are gonna replace the clutch assembly with the new revision.

Do you think they'll also need to order the throw-out bearing? They haven't ordered that one yet.

Dave.

I'm having the same exact issue... does the Suby warranty cover engine/drivetrain up to 60K for MY05?

My clutch vibrates like it's massaging my foot whenever I move the pedal. I can put my car in neutral, and still feel it. The frequency of the vibration matches that of the engine. It just happened one day really bad( a few months ago). It's not as bad anymore, but it is still doing it. I just need to find time to bring my car in.

yup, my car is doing the same thing; car has 52k on it now. It happens intermittently. Sometimes it will be perfectly fine, and then it will start vibrating. Any word on what is causing this? I would rather avoid the stealership if I can help it.
