Yes, if you see stretch with your Falkens on 7.5" wheels, then it would be even worse on an 8" wheel. It all comes down to how wide the 225 tire you're choosing is.

but ya, my sumitomo's run pretty squared up as far as the sidewalls go on the 7.5" wide rim.

which falkens btw? ziex-512's (now defunct) and the 912's are notorious for their stretch. 512's were and still are king of stretchy tires. but since they are discontinued, ziex-912's are runner up, tho theyre not on par with the 512 stretch.

as far as 225/40/18's go, they can range from 7" all the way to 8.5" with minimal stretch and are 'safe' to put on. 9"+ you're def. going to see some stretch. tho i've ran 225/40/18's on 9.5" wide wheels

NO RUBBING. Wheels are hella unflush. One finger gap from top of tire to bottom of fender.

235/45/17 or 225/45/17 are the appropriate tire sizes for that wheel on that car.

You could also do 245/40/17

rpf1's don't come in 17x9 in 5x100. 17x8 is the widest, sadly.

^^ that is not aggressive. you know what stanced means. not sure why you rolled fenders at that offset, and with that size tire.

Running a 235/45 tire on a 17" wheel is the same as running a 235/40 tire on an 18" wheel; which is a very popular tire size for the 08+ WRX.

A 235/45 is only .3" larger in diameter and only about 1" larger in circumference so not really a huge difference. It will throw your speedometer off by 1mph

I'm trying to decide on tire size right now...TireRack recommends 225 but you went with 235. You like how the 235s worked out for you? No issues with stretching or anything?

O and what lug nuts did you go with? Can't tell by the pics. I'm thinking blue Works open/extended.

I have had no trouble with my tires rubbing or anything else. I have Muteki open ended, they change color, goldish, redish.

Yea, I've seen quite a few Mutekis but my concern is paint chipping....and living right on the ocean, I'm afraid of their paint life decreasing even faster.
