Quick question:
So i need to know what to tell the shop before i take a stock 08 2.5i manifold in for some simple hack work. The stock unit is 409 which makes sense b/c the Ti helps with corrosion resistance at the hi temps, but i keep hearing the desire to weld it with 410 filler. Now im no metallurgical expert but wouldn't 409 with a 430 filler be better? Second where can I find 409 J or U bends in 409 and 1.625 or 1.75 O.D??? i would do this myself, however i moved away from all accessible tools and shops (swva) to Arlington. Do exhaust shop around here stock 409? If you are in the DC/MD/VA and know a place that does or a guy that can tackle it let a brotha know. I can source the 409 or buy it. ![]()

That's a half assed comment. What makes it ****ty? It's corrosion resistant, used in the vast majority of OEM exhaust systems, easy to weld, easy to bend and it's relatively cheap. It met the durability requirements for Subaru in this application. OEM's use it on almost everything except when they need more corrosion resistance or heat resistance and they move upto 439 or 441.

Your right! I should have asked more questions... Is this car stock, seeing mild use, like it was intended for? Or since you are modifying it are you also increasing power, heat and abuse over what the oem commuter car was designed for? |

Wow! Feel the love? I don't know about 409, but here's a source for 321: cppexhaust.com. Mooresville, NC. Not too far from you. There's also Pro-Fabrication in Concord, NC. Good luck!
