thats the disc im going to be running, not looking forward with it and the loss in driveability either. I might have a friend willing to sell a stock flywheel, I know he is going to do a clutch in his pretty stock 06 sti. If your curious about it text me and ill find out. When I went to a lightweight flywheel I lost alot of driveability in the clutch and really regret it, ive been debating on picking his up for my own personal use but cant have a stock flywheel in my car haha. -Gary |

cut rons oem 6 speed flywheel today. gonna use the act pressure plate. interchangeable with any act disc. the sti pressure plate does not have the clamping force of the HD and it calls or an organic disc.
im trying to get on a lift so i dont have to drop the tranny on my chest. probally end up over last minute cause jodie just gets it done. bit of a delay with the kids home on spring break. |

If the piston skirt is worn down and slapping on cyl. 2 can I simply replace the piston alone?
The sleeve should be intact if the aluminum piston wore down before the steel sleeve correct? |

jake....if you're really that worried then you have to pull the motor.
you can theorize all day about whats wrong and what the fix is....but you wont know for sure until you pull the motor and figure out whats wrong. bass up, boost down and enjoy the car for a while |

Leak down test asap.
Is there any reason I cant change out one piston with a new one to remove the piston that has worn down... |

I dont see why you couldn't. Some of my buddies with mustangs would replace pistons at the track if they blew a hole in one on the gas at an event. Swap, go, and pray! Granted the drag strip isnt the best place to do motor work, but you should be fine doing just one.

Leak down
Cyl 2 = less than 3% @ 100psi. Cyl 4 = 0% @ 100psi. I considered pulling the pan to inspect the rods but doubt I would be able to visually see a very slightly bent rod. Compression is good (125 in #2, 150 in #4) but not within 10%. Leak down is good... Buggin? |

You can physically change the one piston. However, you have to take into consideration balance as well as the fact that if the skirt is worn, it had to be rubbing on something. If your going to drop one piston, you will want to ball hone the wall. It should take off .0001-.0003. But now, that material has to go somewhere. And its looking like its home could be the crankcase and bearings. Please be cautious, and do not make decisions because they accommodate financial situation. Its better to save and do things the proper way, especially when it comes to suby motor's. Ill see you next weekend, big suby meet down there. Ill bring your cable and we can all shoot the ish ![]() |

that leakdown sounds a little funny I have leaked down a lot of motors and have never seen one leak down 0% --you need to recheck those #'s and if a piston is in question all the leakdown tells you is that the rings and valves are sealed up good.
