Default Non Suby Fab-Diesel Excursion

Truck is getting put back together, motor is being put back together and should be back in the chassis monday/tuesday. Which means I need to hurry up and finish these manifolds this weekend/monday. These will be mounted up to a twin turbo setup. Engine is 6.0 diesel-

Do they ever go offroad?...lol I doubt this one will really go offroad due to the type of suspension. We finished another one with a true 4-link setup with coilovers and triple bypass shocks etc....that had TONS of flex, but i doubt that would go offroad either. Basically like 10% of suby guys actually track or do any type of motorsports with their cars, or who build these huge 500+whp setups with every dodad but all they do is daily drive their car and do whatever it is they do. But the same can be said for any other type of car that should be used for something/built for something in particular but never does.

It just is what it is i suppose....

Supposedly we're gonna be building a drag diesel truck as well, but we'll see about that.

Do 75% of the modded Subaru's on this forum race competitively, do auto-x or HPDE? Nope. They mod, and run on the streets.

Very nice work. Awesome jigs.

What kind of turbos are these for? It looks as if the manifolds are meant for a more-or-less stock location set-up. Which then begs the question, will it be twins or a compoud turbo system?

I tried to get the boss to let me have my way with it, but he insisted on keeping the oem outlets/inlets on the manifolds/uppipes. We are doing a compound setup, but for which turbos......i couldnt tell ya. Im the only non diesel guy that works there, so not sure what works/whats popular/etc.... Although my boss is pestering me to get a diesel because he knows I'll create a lot of stuff for whatever truck i'd end up getting.

soon.....We ended up scrapping the kit he bought due to horrible fitment and just plain overall crappy part. Materials, fitup, welding, it was all horrible. So I got my wish to build the entire thing. I finally took a closer look at the turbos and we're using an s200 series borg which then feeds an s400 series borg for the compound setup. Was going to get pics on friday, but it was all torn apart.

Mocking up the kit again on monday to do the downpipe/exhaust stuff, so i'll get pics then.

So we mounted the manifolds and then proceeded to mount the turbo kit my boss bought. And needless to say it was a pile of rusty, non fitting, oily mess. I couldnt believe someone actually ships this out to customers. So I rebuilt the y-pipe going from the manifolds up to the first turbo. I eliminated the flex sections since I dont believe in having flex sections pre-turbo unless they are of the inconel variety. So I used double slip joints to allow the material to expand/contract. I also rebuilt the dp from the small turbo to the larger turbo. I was confined to the present location of the turbos since my boss didnt want to redo the pedestal and turbo mounting locations. So I used 3.5" od tube on a 3.5" radius and made it as smooth as I could with what I had to work with. We kept the dp that came with the kit which even that looks horrible, but anyways here are some pics. The kit was bought new even though it looks like it was used, and abused i took some pics of the before and after of the parts i replaced.

Woah... if I had received a kit like that, I'd demand my money back.

What are those electrical/relay looking items bolted to the tops of the valve covers? Pretty odd place of putting them?

That's the glow plug relay on the passenger side valve cover. Not sure about the one on the drivers side though

Not sure as far as the engine but it did get some stuff done while the cab was off. One of the techs from the ford dealer had it for awhile.
